The device certainly has the hardware (battery/processor) to support multitasking, and it's such an obvious oversight that they must have had a long discussion about not including it. I would say people who use their laptop to do things (but not super intensive things) on the subway/train but want something a little smaller/portable. Otherwise, it does seem like you probably would either want to use a laptop or iPhone.

I think the correct response is to wait a year for version two. Let the early adopters cut their teeth on it while developers come out with cool applications. It's a nice device for what it is, if you've got a laptop and a smartphone, its a hard sell. My opinion may change once I actually get to hold one.

I think USC does well based on my physically proximity to them. My first 2 years as an undergraduate I attended all the games and we won National Championships both years. Then I moved off campus and we lost the national champion one year and next year wentto the rose bowl (won). Now I'm back in Chicago and we've slowly declined (Emerald Bowl?). I'll be heading to Africa in June, and we no longer have Pete Carroll and (as you say) we may be heavily sanctioned. So be it.

I think my ideal situation is Conan gets canned from NBC and his contract doesnt allow him to go on TV for 3 years, so he ends up creating "The ConanObrien.com Show" which broadcasts live at 11:35PM every night from conanobrien.com. Online ads in the same places that normal TV ads used to be, and with no NBC/FCC to censor him, he can do whatever he wants. Anything that furthers the demise of TV and the rise of the internet is cool in my book.

For someone lazy like me this was a godsend. Completely painless and I generally trust the Red Cross. I did hear all the cell phone companies (except for ATT) would be waiving text message charges if you're donating to Haiti, so there's that as well.

As a USC fan, I've been following it very, very, very closely. Kiffen was an Assistant Coach when I was an undergraduate while we were winning literally every single game, so alumni have a good memory of him at USC...I think the hire could really go either way at this point even though he doesn't have much experience. He's bringing along a super talented staff on both sides of the ball and on recruiting which is similar in style to the old regime, so the feeling is they could be good right away.
