    A Cherry Ghost
  1. Looks like the new Noah Baumbach movie is perpetuating the "Wilco as Dad Rock" thing big time, based on a character in the movie played by former Beastie Adam Horovitz. Here's a New York Times article on Horovitz, where I guess he thinks Wilco indeed isn't cool(third paragraph)... http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/22/movies/adam-horovitz-a-beastie-boy-in-middle-age.html?_r=0
  2. Been listening to this album a bunch this week, pretty solid stuff from Dave Bielanko. Nice pressing and sound as well. Not up there with Kids in Philly or If You Didn't Laugh, but a cozy little album good for some winter listening. Have an extra copy of the vinyl as well, PM me if interested.
  3. To quote Judge Smails in Caddyshack, "Well....we're waiting???" Great show, we left during Hummingbird...around the 30 song mark maybe??? Know they played "In the Street" as a tribute to Alex Chilton, heard it in parking garage next to the venue.
  4. I'll take a what.cd or waffles invite if anyone has one...I have invites for demonoid, libble or stmusic if interested...
  5. Looks like Wilco may have been in consideration for the cover this month though? There is a lengthy piece on Jeff Tweedy in this Beatles issue.
  6. Some great choices. No love for "Under the Blacklight" by Rilo Kiley though? The perfect pop album in my book! Marah is no longer "cool"...but Kids in Philly was a great cd. Didn't see Josh Rouse's "Nashville" mentioned here? Phenomenal CD!!! Any love for the first Audioslave album? That has held up pretty well. I'd probably round out a list of 10 with ones already mentioned: Wilco-YHF Strokes-Is This It Ryan-Heartbreaker Beck-Sea Change White Stripes-Elephant Bright Eyes-I'm Wide Awake...
  7. The season pretty much ended for me after Iowa 24 PSU 23. Although it would be nice to kick USC's ass in the Rose Bowl and get some respect back for the Big 10.
  8. Busted! And yes, I walk around wearing pink scarves and eyeliner. But at least give me credit for defeating Uncle Elmer at Wrestlemania 2.
  9. Lamrod, I won't be hard on myself, but I was hard on yo momma last night! Oh snap! Well, here's the latest pic, homeboy been hitting the Pop Tarts:
  10. In the life isn't fair department: Ok, Jenny Lewis is a smokin hot redhead, and her boyfriend is a fat, hairy disgusting blob of goo. Hey, I'm all for weighing personality into the dating equation, but this is just too much. Their pic is up now at: www.rollingstone.com It's also in the new RS with Britney on the cover.
  11. I had never seen him before, but agree that it rocked pretty hard and was an excellent show. Do I dock him points for wearing a Jason Mraz-style hat during the show? Nah...he wore it well. I'd like to see a setlist, it seemed like he played quite a few new songs. But I have to admit I'm not overly familiar with the solo album... I have not spun it as much as I'm Wide Awake or Cassadega. But the only ones from the new cd I recall him playing were Sausalito, (I Don't Wanna) Die in the Hospital, and I think Souled Out.
  12. Oh yeah, the full Ghostbusters, in its entirety, as originally made famous by Ray Parker Jr. Anyway, to hear Conor yell out "bustin makes me feel good" was fantastic. Full disclosure: We got there late, when Kweller was on, so we missed Rig 1.
  13. Oh, the Union Central is pullin' out and the orchids are in bloom, I've only got me one good shirt left and it smells of stale perfume. In fourteen months I've only smiled once and I didn't do it consciously, Somebody's got to find your trail, I guess it must be up to me. There's a neon light ablaze in this green smoky haze, laughter down on Elizabeth Street. And a lonesome bell tone in that valley of stone, where she bathed in a stream of pure heat.
  14. Just saw Conor this past Friday at tiny Messiah College in Grantham, PA - Wilco played there a couple years ago as well. Pretty great show, Ben Kweller and Rig 1 opened. Kweller came out during Obert's encores, which included "Kodachrome" and a rousing version of "Ghostbusters"....yes, the whole song in its entirety.
