  1. I suppose hidden tracks became something of a cliche since it was so easy to do on CDs. Personally I was never that big a fan of the fade-out, but during the LP era (and 45 singles) it was a way to keep time down. To me it was always sort of a cop out.

You know, it's hard to be critical of The Beatles but if I had one criticism it would be about the amount of fade outs they did, especially in the early days. However I don't blame them, according to my Music Business classes, record companies use to demand that songs fade out with the hook of the song repeating, believing that it'd get stuck in peoples heads that way. Though I guess that doesn't really explain The Bands weird fade outs.

  2. Best moment would be seeing Wilco live for the first time (their first time in BC since 2004!). That would be followed up closely by watching them sound check Bob Dylan's 49th Beard and When The Roses Bloom Again and Too Far Apart (before they played it for the first time in years that night).

  3. Sad no one mentioned the Magnolia Electric Co!

Magnolia Electric Co - Nashville Moon

    Iron & Wine - The Shepard's Dog

Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

    Radiohead - In Rainbows

Thurston Moore - Trees Outside The Academy

Wilco should be in there too!! Five isn't enough, we should do a 10-20 closer to Christmas. This is kind of jumping the gun a bit.

  4. If you want the Mbox and firewire then you have to get the mbox2 pro (which is out of your price range). The normal mbox2, as wonderful as it is, is USB. But if you don't want protools (use logic, logic studio was just released for the same price as protools and is much much better), there are much better i/o interfaces out there for the same price.
