I got a room for the week at the Hyatt on S Wacker. Four large blocks from the el station (bus stops closer), huge and impersonal (2000+ rooms) - not my first choice, but cheap. I booked via Priceline. I first bid $57 a night and was denied. I rebid adding a second zone and raising by $2 ... accepted. Total: $69 per night (room $59 tax $10).
You got to love Shatner!

Chuck and (the new) Mission Express ripped a 2hour 10 minute set tonight at the Iron Horse in Northampton. An intimate Noho venue run by the same group that has brought JT/Wilco to the Calvin Theater and Pines Theater. Prophet's set was a mix of his new album 'Soap & Water', some newly arranged favorites and older records. This show literally brought people to their feet halfway - inspiring a second level dancing section. Chuck's vocals are rich with power and emotion and he can rip a telecaster with the best of them.
They are playing in NYC at Joe's Pub 2 shows on Thurs 11/8 and in Philly at the Tin Angel on 11/9. Balt after that and then south. Guaranteed rockin night of rock & roll. See you in Philly.

I have a good feeling both shows will be recorded.

Hopefully ticket prices are a little cheaper than in the UK and ticket sales are good. Canecelling two foriegn tours due to "scheduling conflicts" would not be good.

I will be at Game 1 tomorrow at Fenway - it is looking like rain all day and all night. If the game gets rained out it - I figure they will make it up on Friday. Either way - I want this series to go the distance (I have tix for game 7 too).

I have this recorded on my handheld satellite radio. I've listened to it and it sounds pretty good, but I don't know if the quality is any better/worse thru a DVR or anything else. I can try and transfer it this weekend if all else fails and no other copies arise.
I made another attempt to record the Sirius rebroadcast today (no DVR) and I thought it sounded like a compressed webcast which is a shame considering the capabilities of satellite radio. Once again I recorded about 20 minutes and then hit 'stop' on the recording deck - a painful thing for any taper to do. I know it was not my Sirius because the Blues Traveler and Ozamotli (sp?) played right before the rebroadcast sounded perfect. I just think that Sirius broadcast the audio from the webcast that was available on Sirius.com . My suggestion.... grab the aud.

Going to record and drink Guiness. Anyone have an extra?

Regarding the recording. I could not record this last night at 8pm, but I did set my DVR to record it (I get Sirius through Dishnetwork). About 10minutes ago I started the transfer: DVR>CDR. After listening for the first 5 minutes... I bailed. The sound was muddy and compressed - damn DVR! I will get the rebroadcast on tuesday if it does not surface sooner.

Visiting family in Fenwick.
I live in Lyme - also close to Fenwick (10 min).

My dad's family is from Hartford -- he now lives in Mystic. My aunt has a house in Fenwick and we are staying there for a week in early June.
We will have to have a mini VC cookout. I live in Lyme.

In my opinion Sennheiser makes the nicest, best sounding headphones on the market. Plus their headphones carry the best manufacturers warranty. Maybe something about being made in Ireland versus much of the competion who's product come from China, Mexico, and Taiwan.
Noise cancelling sets made by Sennheiser or Bose sets are both going to work great but are pricey (and overated in my opinion).
If you can not afford noise cancelling you definitely want a "closed headphone" (good for a noisy environment) versus a "open-aire" set (perfect for critical listening on your couch).
I own several sets (all 'closed'):
Sony 7506 - $99 - I mow the lawn with these on. Although after too long I feel like my head is being squeezed.
Sennheiser HD280 - $99 - Great sound, but a little bulky. Great sound isolation for a non noise cancelling set.
Sennheiser HD201 - $40 - I use these the most. Comfort, great sound, lightweight - good bang for the buck.
Sennheiser HD25 - $300 - Best studio monitoring headphones in the business - hands down. 70 ohm cable !!!!
Sennheiser PXC250 - $150 - Noise cancelling. Smaller ear cup than the Bose set. They come in a small case good for travellers who do not want to lug around Bose case (3x the size). They are great on planes, but I still prefer ear buds (that go into your ear canal). They will block more outside noise than the best noise cancelling sets. Sennehiser and Shure both make great ear buds. I use the Sennheiser CX300's ($70).
