  1. Bruce Springsteen Makes Surprise Appearance at the Stone Pony!

For those hoping to see a performance by famed New Jersey resident Bruce Springsteen, hanging out at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey, is always a decent bet. And last Friday night, for prescient Springsteen fans at the Pony, it turned out be a perfect bet.

The stars were certainly aligned: Alejandro Escovedo was playing a show that night at Springsteen's favorite haunt; Springsteen is an admirer of Escovedo's work, and vice versa (plus they share a manager). Probably the most glaring sign pointing to "Yes, Bruce Will Play at The Stone Pony with Alejandro Escovedo": Springsteen performed on "Faith" on Escovedo's new album.

For the encore of Escovedo's set, The Boss joined him onstage as the two plowed through "Faith," "Always a Friend" (a song they first played together on April 14, 2008, during a Springsteen concert in Houston) and, the real surprise, a cover of The Rolling Stones song, "Beast of Burden." By the Star-Ledger's calculation, this marks the first time Springsteen has covered this particular Rolling Stones hit, though not the first time he's played a Stones song. (On September 16, 2009, for example, Springsteen covered "Satisfaction" during a concert in Greenville, South Carolina.)

  2. I just wanted to give a shout out. Especially in today's music world, musicians spend time creating and we run through it like it is breakfast. This record is beautiful to me. I thought Smokey was a rewarding listen, albeit a bloated listen, but this one I think is the top of his game. Just a pretty album with some killer grooves.

I feel like for some hipsters or pitchfork, the better the production, songwriting, career outlook, dating life, etc gets, the less important you become. Who knows, I don't care anymore. If an album strikes me as beautiful I'm over who else thinks so, but I do want to throw some credit around.

I have been wanting to start listening to Devendra Banhart for a while now, but have been unsure where to start. He played at ATP in December but I missed him due to a scheduling conflict.

How does this album rate with in comparison to the rest of his catalog? Is this a good starter album?

  3. 'I Know It's Over' by the Smiths. Jesus, what a heavy song. 'Elizabeth, You Were Born To Play That Part' on 29 by Ryan Adams is another of my main 'go to' songs in such situations.

'Love is natural and real but not for such as you and I, my love...' Yikes.

  4. I just went to amazon.co.uk and it says that the mono set is 'in stock'. Does anyone in the UK know if this is the case or am I going to get a message once I have ordered stating that I am on a waiting list of about 7,000 people waiting for re-stock? Can't believe I left it this late to order :(

  5. I would love to see this released. It is essentially a finished product and ready and awesome. Even more, my version is poor sound quality.

Exactly! As much as I like Demolition as a compilation, there are several songs that were overlooked. Perhaps Lost Highway could do a Demolition Volume II with the following:

    Walls

    Angelina

    Like the Twilight

    Karina

    Dear Anne

    Idiots Rule The World

Hey There Mrs. Lovely (infinitely better than These Girls!)

    Revelator

    Listen to the Radio

    Gimme Sunshine

    Black Clouds
