  1. That's kind of sad. He seems like such a douchebag.

are you thinking of liam, or did you mean noel? because liam is a wancker, but noel is a pretty down to earth bloke if you ask me. and i agree with the above post, noel has been a HUGELY significant figure on the 90's rock scene aka 'britpop'. i would also go as far to say that britpop paved the way for the handful of decent alt-rock bands that are around today...well in the UK at least. what's the story, definately maybe and the masterplan are incredible albums!! :thumbup

  2. hey guys, going off topic a bit but i thought this would be a good place to ask as this thread is full of brits! do you think we can expect to see jeff come do a gig in england being that he is playing in dublin on november 29th? it is a bit last minute, but you think we have any chance? :hmm

last years' gig at shepherds bush was mind blowing :dancing

  3. from the news on wilcoworld

The audio tracks of all the songs featured on the DVD also will be available for anyone who purchases Sunken Treasure to download for free

out of curiosity, when you go to download the tracks when they become available, how do you obtian them? is there a password or something that comes with the dvds that were pre-ordered or do you give an order # or something along those lines? i pre-ordered but won't be recieving my dvd until friday so i am curious to see how accessing the tracks works.

    cheers fellas.

  4. Nearly every recording artist of any stature has put out videos in the last 20 years. Those who don't either aren't all that big or have faded into oblivion. The occasional video is a necessary PR artifact as surely as CDs and performance videos.

Meanwhile, being nasty about liking or not liking Wilco material seems rather petty to me personally. I mean if you don't like the product, don't buy it or listen to it, there are other groups. If you like the group, have a bit of tolerance. Wilco has yet to put out a bad album in my estimation and frankly the new material sounds pretty darn good.

indeed :thumbup also, record labels have requirements from bands, one of which is almost always the making of a music video, whether it be one or twenty. record labels have to require some form of PR, otherwise they take a huge financial risk. so with bands such as Wilco, videos are likely to be done as a requirement as opposed to them wanting to do one.

  5. are we talking the songs just as they are now or if they were to re-do them for the album? It'd be sweet have em re-do both tracks for it to make it sync more nicely w/ the rest of the tracks.

yea, lets assume the tracks would get 're-worked' to fit with the sound of the new album, whatever that 'sound' may be.

  6. If there was to be an open spot on the next album for either of these tracks, which one would you like to see get re-worked for an album release? I know Panthers is has already been mastered in studio for a release and This Is New is a fundamentals track, but lets assume both songs would get re-done with the current lineup.

I would have to go with This Is New, such a beautiful song. So simple, yet so complex at the same time, if that makes any sense. Typical Wilco I suppose. :music

    Thoughts?

  7. I know fashion questions and what not aren't exactly smiled upon around these parts but I think this is a harmless enough question. Does anyone know where I can find a corduroy jacket kind of like the one Jeff has on, or the exact one if you know. I've been looking for something like this (in need of a new jacket, but I live in Austin,TX so I have a little bit of time before it gets there) Anyways, if anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it.

i just got a jacket almost identical to the one jeff has on at the gap a couple of weeks ago, however, i live in the UK and i am not sure if the gap sells the same clothing in their american stores or not. worth a look though, as i got it on sale.

as for the pictures, they are incredible. well done! :thumbup

  8. the UK newspaper The Guardian today had an interesting article on 49 incredible albums you have never heard of. they asked 49 musicians, producers and writers to list their favourite album 'not to be reckoned with'. i was quite impressed as i have only heard of one or two of the albums listed by some respected (and not so respected, ie. songwriter for mcfly) names. anyway, it is an interesting read if you are looking to pick up some fresh new material (as i am off to do tommorow in camden town). :dancing here is a link to the article: http://arts.guardian.co.uk/filmandmusic/st...1888085,00.html

there is also a pretty decent competion along with the article for the Brits out there. they want you to write in and tell them what the 50th is by giving your favourite unknown album along with a brief description. the prize is a 500 pound gift certificate to HMV...that would be wicked! i was thinking about submitting the self-titled loose fur album, but i don't quite think that is 'unknown'. :D
