  1. There was a similar thing on the Dime a while back (maybe it's still live, I'm not going to take the time to look)-- a Pink Floyd DSOTM show that was an FM/aud (actually two aud sources, if I remember right). The FM was quite dry and sterile and adding the a bit of the audience sources improved the show immensely.
  2. I've got half a dozen old San Francisco concert posters that I got at Ben Friedman's Postermat when I was in SF for the Dead's '84-'85 New Years run. Wolfgang's Vault current selling prices on these posters is about two grand-- yes, for the same printings; Wolfgang's site is very good at explaining the differences between the originals and various reprints. I really wish though that I would have decided "hey, I don't have to eat the next couple days" and spent the $20 or whatever's now a ridiculously low price for an original Last Waltz show poster. Or that I wouldn't have given the Janis Jo
  3. I've had tinnitus for about 35 years now-- I blame it on an REO Speedwagon/Black Oak Arkansas show. (Hey, don't look at me like that. It was between REO T.W.O. and Ridin' the Storm Out, and before Jim Dandy to the Rescue, so the bands weren't yet commercial sell-outs. Besides, I was 16...) I've used the Etymotics for years. I keep several pair on hand, including a pair in the glove box of the truck so if I forget to grab a pair off the dresser I've got another chance. I got my last batch off Ebay for a couple bucks a pair off the going price on the 'net.
  4. "Moondance" - Van Morrison "It Makes No Difference" - The Band (from The Last Waltz) "This Time" - Waylon Jennings (from Waylon Live)
  5. Nope, it's a matrix just like in the info for the torrent. Here, let me wave the master sbd DAT in front the screen. Sheesh.
  6. I always figured that guys with really big TVs were compensating for something that they were insecure about, you know, like Hummer owners. I think that when the old 21" tube set gives out, I'm pulling the plug and doing without TV. Putting it in high def and on a mammoth screen doesn't make the shows any better...
  7. No problem. I was chalking it up to a trip down under with Wilco or St. Pat's. Everybody remember to thank Mark and Bryan in the comments section when you download it from etree or the Dime as, um, there could be another project in the works...
  8. That matrix that I mentioned-- sbd/aud-- is now available on etree. And it sounds fantastic.
  9. Ah yes, I had forgotten about the cross-pollination between the Jayhawks board and VC, as I've been off that board as long or longer than I've been absent here. I even had Sandy kill my user ID over there so I wouldn't get sucked back into bickering with another member of the Iowa delegation who shall remain nameless...
  10. Keep trying at the dime. They purge accounts several times a day so if you keep at it you'll eventually hit it right. That said, yltfan, do you have any reservations about having this put up at etree or elsewhere? As for a board patch, you need to know the secret handshake and Stan's middle name. (I hope I haven't said too much!)
  11. I got married in a private ceremony at home, so no music for the service, no reception, and no dance. The first dance song would have been "Here, There and Everywhere" by The Beatles if we'd have had one. But at least this way she got to save it for the first dance at her second wedding. Or maybe the third...
  12. Yep, that's me. Been catching up on the boards and it's about like going back to your home town after years away. Although it's still really familiar you note some really sad changes (St. Gen's passing) and some less so (Maudie's changed her avatar, Sarah hates the Old 97s....) I'll keep you posted on the matrix. My taper buddy still uses DAT, and occasionally his M1 doesn't behave. I think a part of that is that he's been reusing tapes for a lot of recording-- but he was using a fresh blank last night so that's in our favor.
  13. Hi Maudie! Pretty cool to see some old familiar faces here, on my first visit in a long long time. Matt, I didn't see you at work today... Yes, there were at least three tapers. Two of them are getting together tonight to start working on a nice matrix...
  14. And comparing it to Smile and Rainy Day Music is damning with faint praise. (Yes, I'm one of those Blue Earth/Hollywood Town Hall fans...)
