Hiya,
Going to see Don Ross in a few weeks, just wondering what to expect. Anyone seen him live before??

Her name is Charlotte Lewis. I don't think she can't remember her mother's maiden name do to time fluctuation. Memories don't appear to be effected. She appears to be suffering from the same "sickness" that Desmond had in the Constant, as well as George Minkowski (the communications officer from the Freighter), and Regina (from the freighter but she committed suicide.)
I thought it was from the time travel. Remember what happened to the rats Daniel was experimenting with at Oxford? They couldn't remember how to get through the trail to get the cheese after all the time travel and then they eventually died.

Great news, congrats!

Idaho - Josh Ritter. Absolutely beautiful.
All that love all those mistakes
What else can a poor man make?
So I gave up a life of crime
I gave it to a friend of mine
Something else was on my mind
The only ghost I'm haunted by
I hear her howling down below
Idaho, Idaho
Wolves oh wolves oh can't you see?
Ain't no wolf can sing like me
And if it could then I suppose
He belongs in Idaho
Packs of dogs and cigarettes
For those who ain't done packing yet
My clothes are packed and I want to go
Idaho, Idaho
Out at sea for seven years
I got your letter in Tangier
Thought that I'd been on a boat
Til that single word you wrote
That single word it landlocked me
Turned the masts to cedar trees
And the winds to gravel roads

About half are available on DVD... I suppose Transsiberian, Honeydripper, and The Visitor are the most "accessible."
I've got The Edge of Heaven to watch tonight The rest are in my "movies to watch" file.
-
I loved The Dark Knight, Benjamin Button and Slumdog as much as anyone, but if it were up to me, these films would be up for more awards:
The Edge of Heaven
A Christmas Tale
My Brother Is an Only Child
Transsiberian
The Visitor
Wendy and Lucy
Honeydripper
Shotgun Stories
The Last Mistress
Paranoid Park
Flight of the Red Balloon
and many others...
Embarrassing as it may be, I haven't heard of any of those movies except Paranoid Park. Where should I begin?

Wow, great review. Makes me want to go right out and see them live...if only that was an option. Glad you had a blast!

Listened to this the other day while cleaning up around the house. I think it's great. Very smart.

...to stop putting limitations on what I think I am capable of.

No, no, no...it's My Home Is The Sea by Bonnie Prince Billy.
-
Man, I am listening to this right now for the first time (Re:Stacks specifically) and absolutely get it. Gorgeous stuff.

I wish they'd go back to making less generic-sounding rock. I also wish Caleb wouldn't try to make his voice sound prettier. Needless to say, I'd take the first 2 albums over the most recent 2 any day.
I'm with you on this one. When I hear Spiral Staircase my feet start tappin' and I feel ready to go...I don't get that with the last two albums. Although I do like track 7 on their newest. And what's with the haircuts?? I loved their long hair scruffy look.

Great stuff guys. We should all get together and do a traveling Wilco inspired art show
Here's a collage from a few years ago, titled "Hey Chicken" - more info (along w/ a link to the video) on my blog:I love how it was constructed on end pages of old books, brilliant.
Isadorah - love Rainfall on Monmartre...beautiful.

I have no doubt that you are resting in peace...all too soon.

Hiya,
I am working on a series of paintings that are completely inspired by Wilco. Just wondering if anyone else has any Wilco inspired art they'd like to share. I'll be sure to post some pics when I'm done. My goal is to complete a painting for each album.
Here is a sketch I did a few years back. The idea came from a bunch of different songs I was listening to at the time. I took certain lines from each song and started drawing. The Wilco stuff is similar.

Thanks for the advise folks. I'm definitely going to keep at it. I just want to be able to play songs I like, for me.
-
So, I traded in my dusty keyboard last year for an acoustic guitar. I was taking lessons for a bit, but they didn't really seem to help. Can anyone suggest some cool songs to help me with my chord changes? I've been working on a few Bonnie Prince Billy songs but I thought I'd put it out there for some input to see what else I could practice with.

I prefer ketchup to mustard.

Where I was sitting I'd say the average was around 35. But that may be because I had gold bowl seats and the younger kids might not be able to afford them.

Hey, this is no time to be smug. Our American friends elected Obama and we're stuck with the creepy Conservatives and their douchebaggery. Seriously, WTF!!!
Perhaps not for much longer hopefully! Tories be gone

A few from Neil's set. You can see the painter mid stage next to Peggy.
Neil destroys his strings...

The show was great, but oh man, what a tease! 50 mins was just NOT enough. Neil did make up for it though. Here are a few pics for those who couldn't make it. Enjoy

Well now that they are coming to an end possibly, where should I start with them? I've been hearing about them for years but never gave them a listen. I know they're on Drag City with Will Oldham, so I'm sure I'll dig it.
