  1. I don't know guys, I don't think any of this is right. I agree that the low E is tuned to Bb. However, I don't believe the tuning, the chord fingerings, or anything is correct. If you guys look at Jeff's hand, he's not barring the whole neck. He's also not getting the voicings this tuning produces. He's just playing root-fifth-octaves. I could be going too far out on a limb here, but I doubt he wrote the song just using root-fifth-octaves, so I'm guessing the tuning would allow him to give both major and minor voicings. Also, the chorus part of C-Cm doesn't play correctly in this tuning. In th
  2. Very good thinking. I'd say you might be dead-on, because I think that sound, or flavor, of muted string is coming from a weird bridge, and a dobro makes that same sound flat picked.
  3. Awesome.... now to decide whether I let my band in on it, or do it all by myself....
  4. Alright then.. What about Won't Let You Down? Is it on the list and I'm just looking over it?
  5. You might be on to something. I noticed a few months back that Dean makes one of those. But who knows... As for now, I've been using the steel string acoustic and banjo MIDI patches to emulate the sound, and I have it arranged for guitar. It wouldn't be hard to change, though. Do you play a five or four string?
  6. Answer: Depends on whether or not that intro is a banjo. When I run my acoustic through an amp, it has the exact tone and timbre of the instrument on that song. I initially thought it was a banjo myself, but this has raised questions. Has anyone seen the song performed live? Is it a banjo or a guitar? If it's a banjo, it'll be arranged for banjo.
  7. Oh, no, this is a completely different buzz. I can have gate all the way up and still get weird buzzes on certain settings. And, yes, the guy who had it before me did it completely different from the way the vexter's work, with the adapter plate and whatnot. I don't see how it can be fixed back--at least not by me.
  8. Man... I keep going, "Ooo, I'll do-- wait... no, that's been done... but, what abou-- no, that was done, too. Say! What about doi--rats, beaten again." It's frustrating. I give up. All my favorites have been taken.
  9. In no particular order, the pedals in the chain were a Small Clone, a Fuzz Face, a Digitech GNX3, the Fuzz Factory, into a Hot Rod Deluxe. If I used the Hot Rod's dirty channel, or tried to use anything else at the same time, I had a fairly audible hum whenever notes weren't played. When the Fuzz Factory is the only thing on, certain knob setting will produce a hum, too. Vex said that was normal, but I'm not so sure about the other buzzes I'm getting. I personally think it's the adapter. Radio Shack didn't have an adapter tip that actually fit the jack, so there's probably two or three milli
  10. Hey Halcyon, thanks so much! Any help I get will be great. Also, thanks for looking at my Venus work. It took a while because, as anyone who has tried to transcribe Wilco knows, the progressions never seem logical. But, again, thanks!
  11. I talked to Zachary when I first bought the pedal, and he wasn't too helpful. He was more worried about finding out if someone was producing knock-offs of the originals. All I could get from him was, "Just send it in and I'd be happy to take a look at it, to see if it's real or not."
  12. A few years back, I eBay'd one of these things. Long story short, the previous owner had modded it to run from a 9v adapter (it's not your normal 9v/120w, it's a weird wattage) rather than the battery. So, I love the pedal and all, but it's uber-fussy about being used with any other pedals. I've tried using it first, last, in between, and everything else you can imagine. So, anyone else know where it needs to go in a line to get it to run well, or is it the adapter mod?
  13. Oh yeah, I haven't started Jay's guitar part yet. I was just giving you an idea. But thanks for the suggestion. Anything else you want to add would be helpful.
  14. Well, I mean, aside from a strummed part of a song, nothing is just chords. That's not to say that you can't just put chord slashes in your transcription. Say you were doing How to Fight Loneliness. Jeff's opening acoustic part--that is, the strumming-- could just be written as rhythm slashes. But, there are several other parts to the song. Was that what you wanted to know or did I misread your question? Here's an example of the way I do almost all of my transcriptions, if it'll help. http://www.powertabs.net/tablature-4711/ta...-22523-1423.ptb
  15. Powertab is a super user-friendly program that allows you to create professional looking sheet music using your computer keyboard. It's free to download, takes up almost no space, and includes no spyware or viruses if you're scared about that kind of thing. A lot of people are using it nowadays. You can use it to print sheet music, export ASCII files, HTML files, or even MIDIs of you composition. I use it to archive my band's songs so we don't forget stuff that we don't practice every week. As far as the PTA, it's the official Powertab archive. Members can submit pieces to be approved by oth
  16. I don't know how many of you cats are PTA members, or even visit it from time to time, but it's desperately in need of Wilco transcriptions. As of now, I seem to be the only person working on any powertabs to submit. In fact, the archive only has one Wilco piece, and that's my transcription of Venus Stopped the Train. So, I have come to you asking that you show your support by submitting any and all transcriptions you have to the PTA. If you're not familiar with the guidelines for submitting, or even on how to create a polished piece, feel free to email me or PM me here on the board. Anyway, t
