  1. Haha, you can call me Cody, and I'll assume your name is James from your myspace. Thanks for looking at that, I wasn't 100% sure about any of it, so that helps a lot. About the G/D slash D/G thing, as of the last week I've mixed up all chords with different root notes because of a bandmate's last compostition. He used F#/D and A/C#, which I easily confused with D/F# and A/C#, the much more common chords. So at this point, my motto is "It's all major and numbers, no extra letters." PS, sorry about never send you a sampling of the Elliott Smith tribute thing, we've been working and recordin
  2. I like the fat frets Fender's been using as of late. Just a thought.
  3. No prob... what about the rest, though? Does anyone else play it the way I do, or am I just crazy and horribly mixed up about everything?
  4. Haha, fatal... No, I wouldn't disagree with you at all. Transcribing has always been easy for me, but piano tends to be the area of most of my errors. Since (almost all) the hammers hit two strings, and the way they resonate causes that piano sound of tones and harmonics and overtones, I don't always hear all the notes or sometimes omit notes. SO, in this case, the F# that raises to G to make a suspended chord or a D/G chord was mistaken on my part for a different G. Wait... you typed G/D. Then I have no idea. I still say you're porbably right. I guess everyone can skip this post.
  5. Here's how I play it, I'd like to know what you guys think. The verses consist of this line- Gtr I (D A D G B E) - 'Untitled' Q=63 D5 Dmaj7 Em7/G 4/4 Gtr I E. S S S S S E. S Q Q E. S E. 6. If you just want chords to work around, I can give you those off the top of my head. The main theme is D G Em A The second theme is D Dsus D Dsus D Bm A I'll see if I can't notate the real thing sometime today. EDIT- Those are rough chords, so I may be leaving out 7ths, 6ths, etc.
  7. Is that Jet the one that Dave Gilmour uses on the DVD he put out here recently? If so, that's an awesome sounding guitar. Also, I'm sorry you had to sell that Jazzmaster... those early sixties-late fifties models are super. An older gentleman who I'm friends with actually bought one of the original 58's with the gold pick guard when it came out. It cost his father $450, which he said was the most expensive thing they had bought and would buy for several years to come. He said Leo Fender actually had the guys in the factory hand-sand the fretboards down to the point where it was like playing
  8. No, foo... get it rite- I'm Ludacris, and my comments are da troof. Word to ya mother, with whom I posed for the picture. Peace and ho's!
  9. Not the last album I bought, but I'm embarrassed to own it- The Teaches of Peaches by Peaches... I guess I was expecting something funny or at least mildly witty.
  10. "Underwear" by Pulp. Or maybe "This is Hardcore," also by Pulp. No, no, it's "Seductive Barry," performed by Pulp. All kidding aside, "Remember The Mountain Bed."
  11. Couldn't agree more about the U2 monopoly on airtime. A good friend of mine said it best: "Bono, come down off your cross." I suppose now I shall say, "Bono, stay on your cross if you want, but stop interrupting my football with more of your pretentious, over-the-top songs." I have to disagree with the outplayed comment, unless you mean fouls count as outplaying a team. France committed 24 fouls, gave up the only free kick of the game, and received 3 Yellow Cards and 1 Red Card. Also, Italy maintained possession for 55% of the game. Add to that the botched offsides call against Toni, and
  12. You may've already found this, but here's something to help in your search. http://www.guitardaterproject.org/epiphone.aspx
  13. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! WHAT A MATCH!
  14. As far as regular music magazines, anything American in this day and age pretty much is a waste of your time. Rolling Stone covers what's popular, not what matters. Aside from Fricke, the guy from IATTBYH, I assume the staff are just a bunch of 20-something idiots who attend Justin Timberlake's weekend parties on Mulholland Drive. Spin's went down the tube big-time, especially as of late. The Beyonce cover is an excellent example. I'm pretty sure Filter is probably your best bet. I mean, wasn't Howie Klein wearing a Filter shirt in IATTBYH? I've personally never had the chance to read Magnet o
  15. I saw Dylan with Merle Haggard a little over a month ago at the Tennessee Theatre. It was an amazing show, but it bordered on surreal when Dylan took the stage. His backing band was far too loud, particularly the bald guitarist standing in front of me (left floor). His drummer was louder than everyone, and of course, Bob played his sparkle-covered keyboard all night to fill out the band's sound with his pipe-organ setting. You have no idea how it feels to be listening to Ballad of a Thin Man just twenty feet from the man as he plays the piano tag ON PIPE ORGAN, followed by two extremely white
  16. Poor Bernie, I'm glad someone's listening to him, cause I know Glen and Don certainly aren't... What exactly does he do now? Last time I checked, he's just touring the country with a banner that says "Founding Member of The Eagles, Bernie Leadon!"
  17. Guitar Player's the best for real gear news and theory. Guitar World is like the MTV of guitar. Guitar One is a happy medium between the two. I personally buy Guitar Player from newstands, and someone bought me a subscription to Guitar World two years ago, so really I guess I read both. I just prefer GUitar Player of the two, especially when you add up how many time Wilco or Nels Cline has been featured in any of them. That's just my two cents.... How do you like the new Thom Yorke album?
  18. Everyone can make a shoddy guitar, though. You can tell where your Epiphone was made by the Serial number. Serials beginning with S are Samicks, Cortec is C I believe, and F is a Korean factory that Epiphone hasn't given a name for. If you're ever in the market for one of their LP Customs, look for ones from the F factory that were made in 2001, 2001, and 2002. During those years, the F Factory used better pickups, a different neck to body joint, and the guitars typically way 2-3 lbs. heavier. I happened to have bought one my freshman year of high school, and I've got loads of comments about i
  19. Aside from what Greg Bennett did to the headstock designs, I've always been a huge fan of Samicks. I mean, you'd have to be an idiot not to, especially if you use the argument that 'an Epiphone is a Gibson without the Gibson logo.' Epiphones are typically either made in a Cortec plant or a Samick plant, and I think at one time Samick did a lot of Fender manufacturing as well. They make some of the best guitars around for incredibly low prices, and like a lot of Korean companies, every once in a while one guitar comes off the line sounding extraordinarily good even compared to its high-dollar b
  20. I've had Portugal from the very get-go because of one player: Christian Ronaldo. His dribbling skills as well as off-the-ball skills are so much fun to watch. Watching him in the last game was a joy, not to mention the way he manages to keep his cool even when he's clearly getting bulldozed because of the threat he poses on the pitch. I think he, alongside Figo, Sabrosa, and Postiga, will do a great job attacking while Ricardo stays reliable in goal. I can't wait to see it go down tomorrow! Man, I'm still coming down off the high of seeing those goals at the death and not having to risk
  21. We need a gooooooooooooooooooooooal emoticon!
  22. GOAL BY GROSSO! GOAL BY DEL PIERO!!! IT'S OVER! ITALY IN THE FINAL!!!!
  23. Totally disagree with that, but WHO IS IN YOUR AVATAR?
  24. Haha, you know, I think we both noticed his age at the same time. I just happened to look at his profile and see that he was born in the fricken NINETIES. I wasn't going to say a thing though... Just let him buy an overpowered amp that his parents won't let him play. EDIT- Do you have the Ken Burns Jazz version of Faubus Fables?
  25. Loved the Rooney call- Nothing makes my day more than watching someone step on someone else's balls instead of mine. Hated that Brazil didn't stomp the French like they should have. Oh well, someone else will in one of the next two. Forza Azzurri
