  1. Theres no acounting for credibility but, haven't the counting crows made a humble profession of autumn? I mean, you must concede that they've nailed that atmosphere... Sufjan's "Michigan" Album is great for autumn. But I think "The Rake" is his most elaborate autumn song. Devendra Banhart, Tagan and Sara, early Rilo and Nick Drake have all had very autumny bodies of work.
  2. Desolation Row is my favorite Dylan song...ever. Sufjan Stevens-Come On Feel The Illinoise!! The Polyphonic Spree-Section 11 Bright Eyes-Lets Not Shit Are Selves (I think we all had a fleeting Bright Eyes Obsesion)
  3. Catharsis is good I think, if done in a way thats not indulgent or silly, but progressive and helpful. I'm going through a break-up now, and things are just starting to get real turbulent. On a bright note I managed to compose one of my best mixes in recent memory to comeserate our disunion... 1.Beck-It's All In Your Mind 2.Yo La Tengo-Tears Are In Your Eyes 3.The Clientele-Monday's Rain 4.Flaming Lips-Ego Tripping At The Gates Of Hell 5.Wilco-HummingBird 6.Mercury Rev-Moving On 7.Amiee Mann-Wise Up 8.Badly Drawn Boy-The Shinning 9.Broken Social Scene-Lover's Spit 10.Bob Dylan-Most Of The
  4. I just started working at best buy (media retail, but I'm mostly stationed at the cd's) and we get a store cost + 5% discount, which esentially means I'll pay whatever the store markup is on most inventory, which I'm told is better then a fixed percentage, AND we just added the Rapture and TV On The Radio to our "Find 'Em First" Discount list, (Which now also includes M.Ward) so thursday when my shift ends, I'll be able to pick up each of these albums for about 3 dollars a piece. It's also rumured we're going to be adding Lupe fiasco and The Decemberists when they drop. But yeah, the "Find 'E
  5. Allow me to digress for an instant, A week from now the new Roots comes out. And I implore the dear lord above near nightly to adhear to this one demand, that "Game Theory" won't suck.
  6. I have an Emerson turntable that I paid my grandma's nurse 20 dollars for. Needless to say, I need an upgrade. The Sony model looks really good and well within my means. Great thread.
  7. You know, I seriously need to pick up "Pretty Tony", The only solo Ghost Face album I have is "FishScale" which I love. In fact, It's definately one of my top 5 albums of this year. Also, On threads like these, I don't think "Black Album" gets enough credit.Oft overshadowed by Jay-Z's earlier masterpieces, but It's my 11th favorite. And there is absolutely no denying that "99 Problems" has to be one of the ten greatest hip hop songs of all time. So great pick there.
  8. Prepare to enter the 36 chambers of the analytical hip hop bulletin. What are your top ten favorite hip hop albums? I
  9. Me too. Pitchforks lists are usally really intresting, if often debateable, but this one was just dubious. It's like they took every other major publications "Greatest Sixties Songs" list, shuffled the placements of some of the selections, and just kind of ommited the third most obvious choice (Example, "Like A Rolling Stone", "Visions Of Johanna", But no "the times they are a'changin") The theme from "Docter Who" was pretty damn high....
  10. Oct. 3rd says the website...I haven't really heard any of it yet. But Picaresque was really great. If they could strip away some of the pesky gimmicks that plagued "Picaresque" colin could really craft something relavent.
  11. I thought "Herion" would have been higher too, as "Visions Of Johanna"
  12. Pitchfork has recently started there 200 greatest songs of the 60s feature. They have planed to dispense a new 50 or so entries every day till Friday when they unleash their top 20. Care to wager who will make it to that plateau?? Keeping in mind the snarky, hipster, sovereign, argumentative and oft obscured tendencies of Pitchfork, Let
  13. Allow me to get this party started with some midtempo rock. Because I
  14. I've been trying to make music for two years now. I get ocasional positive reinforcement and ocasional cynisism. I would be really grateful if anyone who reads this checks out my posted songs Here If you like what you hear please e-mail me and I'll send you a free copy of my exssesive 21 song demo for freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
