  1. Wow. Thanks for the link. I'm getting more and more excited that there is an artifact commemorating the current Wilco live show. Sooo excited for MKE.

  2. He really is.

Not to take the attention off of Jeff, but in a way I know the feeling.. My band played a benefit for the Special Olympics a few years ago. Those kids thought that we were the biggest Rock Stars in the world! We signed autographs and everything.. It really made their day.... It was a very rewarding experience. :)

I do, too. My band played at UW-Madison and there was an autistic man dancing right in front of the stage, just having a total blast. The wheelchair that he was sitting in before the show became totally useless when the music started. These videos are great; Neil Young was funny.

  3. personal preference.

i worked in a studio for quite a while myself, trust me, Brendan knows what he's doing and Bruce wouldn't let him do it if he didn't agree or want it that way himself, so put a good chunk of your blame on Bruce himself then.

while i don't like his production on Magic, and D&D is just a boring album despite production, his production on The Rising is just fine for me. not to mention Brendan's great production on Pearl Jam's 4 best albums and his work w/ Rage, Matthew Sweet, and many other acts. Do you have complaints about his production on other artists work, or just Bruce?

and for complaints regarding instrument separation, those complaints would be directed towards who mixed the record, not really the producer (i don't know who mixed those 3 records, i'm sure you could google it)

Did you work at the Terrarium by chance? We just mastered at Magneto. Good folks there.

Regarding the new album, I think he showed brendan o'brien his the songs during Magic sessions and they decided to keep recording during breaks in the tour.

  4. Blitzen Trapper was a great opener for SM and the Jicks. I'm betting they will get on an even bigger bill soon. Hopefully Wilco. They put on an exceptional show in Madison. The bassist and guitarist started banging around their gear as an outro to close their set, which I'm never really a fan of. The drummer was going pretty ballistic, too. Furr is brilliant, and I can see these dudes and Dr. Dog leading a new kind of musical scene. My brother's real name is Trapper, and they were quite humored by that.

  5. It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) in its entirety, my favorite verse being:

    You lose yourself, you reappear

You suddenly find you got nothing to fear

Alone you stand with nobody near

When a trembling distant voice, unclear

Startles your sleeping ears to hear

    That somebody thinks

    They really found you.
