  1. thats a point, and maybe the full 12 mins is a bit much but i dont really treat a show like a product, like im entitled to a certain amount of songs or im not getting my moneys worth or something. its just an experience and i like to be part of it

btw, i believe you added me on myspace today??

    i like your music

    Good points, good points.

And yeah, that was me. I saw your song you posted over in that other section and I thought it was great. Good stuff.

  2. I bat boyed for Wily Mo when he was in the minors. Guy knocks the ball out the park further than anyone during BP, but he can't hit the breaking ball very well at all. And he used to be a great centerfielder when he was younger, and now he can hardly play right to save his life.

  3. I would just go out and get a Shure SM-57. They're robust, produce good sound and only cost about $100. You can then, via a 1/4" to 3.4mm adapter, go into your computer via the line-in jack. A good thing to remember is that there are 3 important components to recording sounds well: The source (you), the microphone and the preamp. Given what you want to do, I don't think a usb powered condenser mic will afford you better sound over just going direct. Just my $.02 cents

If I went out and bought something like a Shure 57, would I be able to plug it directly into the back of my computer. I do have a little 1/4 to 1/8 connector. What is all this talk about pre-amps and things like that? I'm new to recording, so I don't know much. I guess my basic question is: if I bought a mic like a Shure 57, would I be able to just plug and play, or would I need extra stuff? I am using an iMac that has a line-in input in the back.

  4. I've read mixed reviews about the "Blue Snowball Microphone." It is billed as a professional USB mic for under 100 dollars. I want to use it for recording acoustic guitar and vocals. Wondering if anyone here has used one or has one and could give me their impression of it.

And, if no one has one of these, what would be a good mic for recording acoustic guitar and vocals in GarageBand? Preferrably something on the cheaper end of the spectrum. I've also heard some good things about the Samson C01U USB Condenser Mic.

  5. Summerteeth was the first Wilco album I ever bought, and therefore Can't Stand It was the first Wilco song I heard. I love the song, but the bells/chimes are a bit too much. I wonder if those were added when Jeff/Jay had to rework it for the record company or if that was Jay's idea from the start...

  6. I introduced my friendo to Wilco about 6 months ago. Got him to go to a concert and everything and he likes the band a lot now. He was listenting to Summerteeth the other day and commented on how much he liked Can't Stand It. Thought it had a good grove and was very catchy. I mentioned to him that I've read a lot of negative comments about this song on this board and that a lot of people seem to dislike the song.

So, all you Can't Stand It haters, why do you not like this song...
