  1. Okay, at my house I have a Triton LE 88 key model that I love and use almost everyday. I use it just to play on through our speakers and also use it as a midi controller when I record things in GarageBand.

But, the problem is, as I go away to college each fall, my dad won't let me take this thing with me because he plays it all the time too. And I am going to need something for when I am at school, because I play so much and some friends want to get together and work on some songs, and it is nice just to have one so I can play whenever.

So, I'm looking for recommendations on keyboards that would appeal to a college student (who has some money, but tends to be tight when parting with it). I need something with weighted keys and something that can act as a midi controller with a computer, as well as play out loud through speakers like a normal keyboard. Any suggestions? I have looked at the M-Audio keyboard workstations, but I'm not sure if those are used ONLY for playing through your computer (does those things emit any sound through speakers if you aren't running it through some type of computer?). I've seen some used Kurzweils on ebays, also and the PC88MX looks quite intriguing. Thanks for any suggestions you may have...

  2. I second At Least That's What You Said- so great to be right in front of Jeff when he rips that song apart.

The solos during Muzzle of Bees are so great, especially when the song is just so quiet and mellow and then erupts into those great breakdowns.

  3. "I have no idea how this happens, all of my maps have been overthrown."

    - I think this part has to be my favorite moment on the record. That solo, with the Nels' guitar searing over the bouncing piano and organ lines, is amazing and then that vocal part from Jeff just comes in so incredibly strong after the break.

  4. I just watched some footage from I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, and Jay is a heck of a lot better than I thought he was. I've only seen Nels live, but it looks like Jay would be a whole lot of fun to watch up close as well.

  5. Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone.

Where did the strings break? At the nut, the saddle or somewhere in between? If they broke at the nut add a little graphite to the slots. If they broke at the saddle, you may want to sand a little off the top. If somewhere in the middle...

  6. I play piano, and not much guitar. Recently started playing guitar and I broke a few strings on my acoustic. Now, my question is, am I supposed to buy a new set of strings and put them on myself or can I go into a shop and have them put them on for me? Would I look like an idiot if I did the latter?

  7. I wouldn't mind at all if they stopped touring toward the end of this year, took a break for the hollidays, then kept working on the next album at the start of 2008.

  8. On the Morgantown show that Analogman so generously posted:

I've tried downloading all the files multiple times from the Sendspace links and each time they are almost finish downloading, it says "decompression failed." Is it something I am doing wrong, or is it the site? I've downloaded tons of stuff from sendspace before and have never gotten that message.

Owl, do you plan on hosting this show on your site? If so, I can just get it from there at some point.
