  1. as for it being out there, it's not really that far off his really early stuff at times

Very true. That's what I thought when I first heard it. Sounding like his early stuff, though, would seem like big a step back for him.

Sounds like he was just messing around and having fun, though.

  2. I think that at some point in the next ten years Jeff will release a solo album, hopefully of all new songs, maybe a few solo classics.

I like the idea of a mix of new songs, solo classics (Spiders comes to mind, since it is sooo much different from the Wilco version), and even a few covers. That would make a nice double disc.

  3. I've was listening to some live recordings of Jeff recently and got to thinking....Is the Live in The Pacific Northwest dvd and the Chelsea Walls Soundtrack the closest we will ever come to getting a "Jeff Tweedy album?"

I understand that Wilco is Jeff's main creative outlet, but wouldn't it be great if he made a record of solo acoustic songs? I think he is one of the best songwriters out there and it is great to hear just him and his guitar. Don't get me wrong, I love Wilco and love rock music, but sometimes I think it would be great to listen to a soft, relaxing record of Tweedy stuff.

I know Jeff has a lot on his plate with Wilco and being a husband and parent, but if he did have the extra time to do something like this, I think it would be fantastic. Nels, Glenn, Pat and John all do other work, so I doubt him creating his own record would cause any "band problems."

Do you think Jeff will ever release a "solo album" of new songs, not just stripped down Wilco songs? Thoughts...

  4. Here's whats curious about the SBS sessions. We have the 12 album tracks and:

    13. One True Vine

    14. Let's Not Get Carried Away

    15. The Thanks I Get

    16. (we assume Lets Fight)

    17. ?

    18. ?

I remember reading somewhere that a song called "Glad It's Over" was one of the 18 being considered, so that leaves only one that we don't know the name of.

  5. I really really love The Thanks I Get. I can think of a few tunes that it could replace on SBS. But at least I have it so I can enjoy it whenever I want now. It's such a catchy tune and would have made a better single than What Light, in my opinion.

LNGCA is a fun tune, but would have definitely stuck out like a sore thumb on the new album.

Let's Fight could have been good, sans the cheesey string pads. I can't wait to hear the studio version of that song, whenever it surfaces.

  6. I stumbled upon a live Loose Fur show (in 2000, at the Double Door) on a music blog, but the links to the live tracks had expired. I was just wondering if anyone had this show and was willing to share. I'd really like to hear it.

I believe the set list is as follows-

    Not For The Season

    Talkin' To Myself

    Good Chinese Apple

    Save My Ass

    Rock , Salt, & Nails

    Free & Easy

    Organ Blues (T Rex Cover)

    Thanks.

  7. That's cool you got to see him do some Dr. Stringz, some people were yelling for that last week but to no avail. I saw him a week ago in Columbus and it was stunning. He is a fantastic musician and he is probably one of the most talented artists of the modern era who has received little or no attention. What he does on stage is jaw dropping and his studio albums are so well crafted.

  8. I really want to go to this show. I live in Dayton and it is a short drive from me. All of my buds who like Wilco can't attend and some of my other friends claim they don't like Wilco enough to spend 33 dollars (I've told them once you see them live, you'll become a fan).

So, I'm thinking about going to the show by myself. I've never to been to any show by myself. It is still worth it, right? Even though it seems kinda lame, going solo.

  9. I think there is a .000000001 % chance that anything is going to be changed next time they stream it.

This baby is signed, sealed and delievered.

(Although that doesn't mean I wouldn't love to hear Let's Not Get Carried Away or a beefed up version of Walken!!)

  10. I think this is legit. This should be cool.

Maybe, just maybe, the leaked songs weren't the finished product and they have realized people have started hearing these and some people have been disappointed. Maybe they are doing this to show fans that those leaked songs were not the real deal and they want us to hear everything in its full glory.

    Or maybe not.

  11. If anyone on this board actually has the new record, I implore you to do the wrong thing and leak it.

I'm betting if someone, or even a handful of people, had it, it would be out there somewhere. Soulseek, oink, etc. I'm not sold anyone actually has it, other than that guy who said he had a European press copy.
