  1. I'm a sports guy, so I've always compared tracklistings to batting orders in baseball.

gotta have an upbeat leadoff track, or at least something that gets the listener's attention. Something to get on base.

3 and 4 holes are your big hitters.

Gotta a save a guy for the end of the lineup, a consistent track/hitter that will always do his job.

That is probably completely out there, but it makes sense in my mind.

  2. think about it.. Wilco. at Warsaw. no balconies. just floor.

    crazy.

I think the best venue I have seen Wilco at would be the student center at West Virginia University (The Mountainlair Ballroom). I wasn't expecting much from a tiny college student center as the venue, but it was great. The place was small and all floor. Plus it was just Wilco, no opener. ("An Evening With Wilco" as Jeff called it). It was terrific, but I'm sure it is no Warsaw.

I read on Pitchfork today Ryan Adams added a few more dates. He is playing Louisville on July 11. I just started listening to him a few months ago and I'm really tempted to go. It would be worth it right? How much do tix usually run for his shows?

  3. They almost put me to sleep in Cincinnati

    My thoughts exactly.

Very repetitive sounding and they need a real drum set. That bass drum just rolled on and on to no end.

  4. I listened to Summerteeth the other day. I can never rank the Wilco albums (other than AM at the end), but Summerteeth is always great to listen to, especially with headphones on when you can really hear all of the overdubs and other stuff going on.

It was the 2nd Wilco album I ever listened to about 2 years ago. I'd love to see them start playing a few others from the record during live shows, but that's not for me to decide.

  5. I want to read a Beatles or two book over the summer. I know there are tons, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend one that they think is the best or most comprehensive.

So far, I think Bob Spitz's 990 page Beatles Biography looks to be pretty good.

Also, Many Years From Now looks like a good read on Paul McCartney.
