  2. its probably my cheap ass speakers, but the drums sound horrible at the start of You Never Know on my vinyl. Really muffled. I need some better speakers.

  3. I've listened to this album a TON since the leak and my initial opinions of it haven't changed much. I like most of it, but still wish they would have pushed the envelope a bit further in the studio. But, I really like the album and the song I hated at first, Country Disappeared, has grown on me a ton. Still not big on Solitaire and Everlasting Everlasting though.

  4. Sorry to point out the obvious but, after you turned it on, did you move the arm over to the record?

yeah, I tried that. And I looked under the platter to see if the belt was taped up under there and nothing. And there was no belt in any of the baggies. I sent the thing back today for a refund and picked up one at Best Buy later today- hopefully will be spinning some tunes here soon...

  5. okay, here is what it looks like once the platter is removed. I see no belt. And you'll notice there is no belt going 'round the pulley

sorry to bug ya'll with this, but none of my friends around here have any clue about record player.

  6. Thanks for the advice WTF. There is no platter lock though. I lifted up the platter and I can see there is no belt going around the pulley- I don't even see a belt. Is it underneath all the plastic? Should the belt be pretty obvious to see? I'm so frustrated- I think I may just send it back to BH and try another one. Should the belt be visible, or is it underneath everything?

  7. Ha, no, I bought it new from BH Photo/Video. Sony told me I could send it in and have it replaced, but I was just thinking since it was brand spankin new there really shouldn't be any problem with it. I still think I missed some step in the set up... is the belt visible? or is underneath everything? There is a little pulley on the top left and I think the belt is supposed to go around that (maybe?), but there is no belt going around that. Pardon my record player ignorance.

  8. okay, I'm clueless and need help.

I bought the Sony PS LX250H but I can't get the turn table to turn. I plug it in and hit start and nothing happens. I assume the belt needs to be wrapped around the motor pulley or something, but i dont know how to do that and the manual isn't very descriptive. I don't even see the belt. Anyone know what I'm talking about and can help me through this? I can post photos of the thing if you want to see what it looks like....

can't wait for their new record

yes, I'm excited for it too. I guess they added a third member for the recording process- I remember the lead singer saying something about expect a lot more vibes/xylophone sounds.

  11. nope that wasn't it. but I figured it out. It was "Ashley" by The Dodos. I guess he wasn't saying pa pa pa pa pa pa razzi at the end but ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ashley or something like that.

  12. I tuned into WIUX student radio (Indiana U) on their itunes stream and heard the tail end of some song. It had hand claps and lots of (shoegazey??) guitar sounds. The only lyrics I caught were at the end and it sounded like "pa pa pa pa pa pa pa paporazzi (or maybe papa rossi?)." I don't know. I liked what I heard and I only caught about 20 seconds of the end of the song. This ring a bell to anyone? They didn't have an updated playlist on their site at all.

  13. yeah, if people are going the upload route, mediafire is MUCH better.

I would prefer any who put up downloadables do it in this thread...then more of us can enjoy! And yes to putting as much music as will fit on an 80-minute disc. What a great way this is to hear new stuff!

okay, answer this question for me mod.

why would it be okay to link to a whole ton of "commercially released" songs on this thread, but everyone gets up in arms when someone posted one wilco b-side?
