Kentucky 42, Arkansas 29. UK 4-0. Wow. We might even forget about basketball in this town if this keeps up.
Well, let's not get carried away.

Must be an ESPN thing... I'm watching ESPN2 (Cats & Hogs).
-
I saw the Walken ad, too.. must be watching the same football game?
-
Great to meet you guys too.... hope you all had a nice relaxing trip back up home.
I still don't know who was with Glenn on the shaker thingie for Handshake Drugs. Didn't anybody see that?
And I will be looking for a copy of this show, people! I saw at least two recording setups if the Sirius feed turns out as lousy as some were saying. I could definitely listen to that one again. And again...

Well, I heard it with my own ears. The Flaming Lips "The W.A.N.D." - that opening guitar riff is unmistakable. In a commercial for Dell laptops.
Is this old news? (Yes, I used the search engine...)

It was a really great setlist and a great show. So much fun. She's a Jar with the harmonica was great (pic). Just a lot of great stuff that they seemed to really enjoy playing off of AM and BT. So many of the songs were like getting a Christmas present that you wanted but forgot that you wanted and then had this big happy surprise when you open it... It was a great show and a great crowd. The field section seemed into it; no "talkers" in my area. And I think we did a mighty admirable job of clapping on Spiders.
Yes, Glenn with the baseball bats was a nice touch. Brought smiles from the whole band.
Who was that with the shaker next to Glenn for Handshake Drugs? I suppose I should know that, but don't. I didn't get a very clear pic on that (below).
It was very cool to meet some folks from the board and hang out there on a beautiful evening. So much fun.

Yeah I was 5th row center too. Oh well, that's life....a VC'er is rockin' out in my place. It's all good.
Sounds like a killer show.
Actually it wasn't in the very center, if that makes you feel any better. It was about 15 feet squarely in front of Nels.
Pics tomorrow after a little sleep. As you can imagine, a good time was had by all. Harmonica, John, baseball bats, a GREAT poster, the wayback machine was in fine working order... and our clapping didn't get yelled at!

Weather forecast for 8 PM this evening.... 82 in Louisville with 0% chance of rain.... mmmmmm.

everybody have a blast!!!
Well, if you insist....

OK, what about a time and place for those of us who want to do the pre-show thing? Oddly bashful group here...
Who wants to meet at about 6 o'clock to get something to eat? Buckheads? I don't know much about the place but would like to meet up. Show starts at 8. Or we can do the Pub thing in the ballpark.
-
Shake it off... hey, that might be a good name for a song or something.
-
If anyone has an idea for a pre-show meet up that would be nice.
I'm driving up from Lexington for this and would also love to meet up. Johnny said he's a "maybe" as well, and he was going to check with some folks in LVL for a recommendation. Does anybody have a favorite place in that part of town?

i worked at NASA when this was compiled into a poster. apparently there are portions of the images that had to be altered when they were merged together for National Security reasons
gee thanks. I was perfectly happy in my little non-conspiracy-theory naive world thinking that our planet was just a bazillion points of light. Now I suppose I have to worry about big brother photoshopping New Mexcio or Guyana or who-know-what. sigh.

I think this came from the Nasa website... love this one!

Assuming the Canadian Post Office comes through, I plan to be there as well....
(Thanks again, Sarchi.)

Looks like someone hit the nail on the head. You win the Golden Hammer Award for 2007.
Maxwell had a silver hammer, not golden. Or am I in the wrong thread?
-
Oops. In my excitement, I jumped the gun.
As did Mother Superior.

Those are great John. Thanks for letting us know where we can check those out, too. You're like all famous and stuff if you're at Alfalfa's... it's kinda like being on Leno... but not really.... well, sorta.....
-
Wilcoworld home page has a link for "NOW ACCEPTING REQUESTS FOR MILLENNIUM PARK" which goes to an online form for requests for the show.... should be interesting.

Best: Iroquois Amphitheatre--Louisville KY
WURD !1! I am also partial to The Palace in Louisville, MMJ did not hurt either+1 on Iroquois. Great venue for these guys.

Candyfloss, she's a safe cracker
She kissed me first, then broke in
I thought everyone on VC hated Candyfloss? You're gonna get mail, you know.
Mine :
Your pillow wept
You covered your eyes
And you finally slept
While the sun caught fire
You've changed
(if that's not a picture of a night we can all relate to, I don't know what is...)

f'rinstance.
Since SBS starts with maybe and ends with yeah, I dumped the lyrics into Word and checked the instances of the word "no". It appears only 9 times in total, on 4 songs (out of 1703 words). Is that a record for Wilco? Dunno. But I find these sort of patterns semi interesting in the context of all the press about SBS being a more "positive" record. I suppose you'd have to add "not", "don't", "won't", shouldn't", etc to get the real tally of negative words.
(that took me less than 5 mins btw)
That is waaaaaayyyyy too much brainwork for something that was originally billed as "obscure thoughts and musings".

Being a graduate and fan of Kentucky for the past 20+ years, I can say that I have seen my share of poorly coached football games involving UK. Yesterday's game was one of those. But this time it wasn't Kentucky's coach with the coaching issues. Sorry 'bout that, but it doesn't sound like you'll be the one bringing brownies to the Coach Nutt Fan Club meeting next week anyway.
Rich Brooks ain't over the hill yet. I'm starting to be a believer!
