  1. huh. believe it or not, it was a different plate. It was a NY bird plate. and was WILCO, appears the person I was behind beat the SSF guy to the punch so he got W1LCO. guess that dashes my dreams of getting a WILCO plate if I ever change my residency to NY.

i met that guy @ SSF last year...he had Glenn (and i think others) sign one

  2. I'm sorry but this just seems like a silly argument.

    1. 40 minutes for an album used to be pretty standard. Check this out:

    Rubber Soul = 35:50

    Revolver = 34:59

    Sgt. Peppers = 39:42

    Pet Sounds = 35:58

    Abbey Road is 47:23

    2. 12 tracks? Some albums have two tracks, some even have one. They're still albums. Secondly, there have been tons of classics that were 8 track albums, for your consideration:

goodness, let's get literal. the album is short. it sounds like it is missing something, like half its tracks. there is a big difference in 10 minutes if you are going to put Abbey Road on that list. If the songs average 4 minutes each (which this album does), give me 12 of them, that's a good 48 minutes and comparable to Abbey Road and in my opinion a good album length.

ps, not making an argument. simply stating my opinion and how i like experience music, which is not on ction's terms. :)

  3. you are aware that there are literally hundreds of "clues" and already a website dedicated to the theory that there is more music forthcoming, right?

    -justin

ummm, no, not aware. i really just want my music to be released in its entirety when it is done instead of games and gimmicks and carrots to get you to buy the music. either you are going to buy the album or you are going to download it for free, gimmicks and carrots and teasers will not change that outcome.

  4. it feels like half the album is missing. i thought the same thing when the download of In Rainbows came out and i didn't like In Rainbows until the hard copy arrived with the additional tracks. Although no word on the street that there are more tracks coming with this one. this album is way too short. albums should be at least 12 tracks long and should last through my commute from jersey to the bronx.

i also thought the first half of the album reminded me of a late night techno club/the days of raves at Nation and foam parties. it definitely shifts half-way through and am fascinated with how the albums tracks/songs break to the next song.

I am also glad i am not the only one that bitches about bad type.

  5. I am frowning so hard it hurts. That Tarrytown ticketing situation was one of the worst experiences of my life. So effing convoluted and misleading and bad. :ohwell

huh, i clicked in, and selected the first option, quick pick, got nothing, then did the same thing for each additional level. and got something on the third try. probably should have started with the bottom option first. i have found with ticket buying not to give up on the first or second try because tickets get held and kicked back into the system from people trying to buy too many, credit cards getting rejected, firewalls blocking sites, etc.

  6. oh, there's a fondue restaurant in Montmatre that is fantastic, i can't remember the name, but you need to make a reservation it is super tiny, they serve wine from the tab in baby bottles.

you could also visit the Moulin Rouge.

  7. this time of year, there will be very short lines for the Sistine Chapel and in my book is a must see. If you go to the Louve, skip the line to see the Mona Lisa, there is so much better art there more worthy of viewing. I am surprised no one has mentioned Centre de Pompidou: http://www.centrepompidou.fr/

it depends on what kind of art you are really into on which of the 3 museums I would recommend. The Louvre is like attending art history 101, musee d'orsay has a focus on the impressionists and fills in from where the Louvre leaves off and stops at contemporary in which Centre de Pompidou picks up.

the catacombs in Paris are chilling and worthy of the trek down the long flight of stairs. I would also recommend the catacombs in Rome, they are off the beaten path and along the Apian Way. and are very different from those in Paris.

I want to recommend restaurants because the eating is amazing, but can't for the life of me remember the names of places.

  8. the president is the commander in chief and when it comes to the military there is a big pecking order, code of conduct, and protocol one has to follow. if a sergeant did the same thing re: a general, he would have had some serious answering to do.

i don't know if i agree with the firing, but i don't really know enough about the whole story to be too terribly opinionated about it.

  9. I think she's trying to forget that album. If only AmericanAquariumDrinker fit on a car tag.

i have no issue with a ghost is born, it is (the album) i completely deny exists.

i am quite happy to have voting rights again. :) but will still be quite the hothead about the lack of DC statehood.

  10. Wow. So, two backseat drivers?

I would only be able to use a GPS if I were alone in the car, because someone whom I love dearly, whose name I won't mention, shouts out every street name, pot hole, faded yellow line, house number, make and model of each approaching car, how many cars are in a 50 foot radius, and whether or not they are on cell phones/have pets/children with them. :wub One more voice and it might start to seem crowded in the car. :lol

someone i love dearly shouts as well when in the passenger seat of a car.

  11. Period Tracker

oh, wait, guys wouldn't need that one.

I Took Off: it is great for tracking your vacation and sick leave for work. (this one is a dollar or two)

Xpense It: a good budget tracking app (this one is a dollar or two)

The Weather Channel: good weather, and it used to have traffic cameras, but now since they have updated it, I haven't found that feature. and it is free.

Words with Friends: good app, thumbs up.

  12. i was going to chime in and say that i have a tomtom, the one that actually tells you street names. i like it, susan does a fairly good job. spawn's dad has the previous model that does not speak the street names and Lori drives me crazy, i don't get along well with that gps, it confuses me. the newer version, my version is fairly great. one thing that bugs me is that the suction cup pops off the windshield when it is very cold outside. one can also update maps for free based on user inputs. or can pay a nominal fee and buy updated maps. one can also update maps themselves / make changes to the maps if inclined. that part is rather cumbersome to do while on the road and hard to navigate back to once you get home and can actually make the changes. we don't have the traffic feature on ours, but instead pull up the google map on our iphones and get traffic that way, it is a fairly accurate thing and handy. i tried doing the gps thing via the smart phone and it doesn't work so well if you get a phone call right when you need to merge left...
