  1. Did they get the green? Because that's my pick for sure.
  2. oh wow that early pitchfork review reads like a really shitty blog post. Man, how things have changed.
  3. orange copy has arrived! along with the uhh...gum?
  4. A 7 from pitchfork isn't bad. I think the score is pretty accurate actually.
  5. Ok it's growing on me, but I still feel it's a little too slight for my tastes. It just kinda begins and ends, and I don't think it leaves much of impression compared to their other records. It doesn't feel like a Wilco record to me. Which is usually an "experience" in it self. Jeff is awfully negative/pessimistic on this record, which I think everyone can relate too, but I think it's a little too on the nose. I think if Tweedy -Sukirae hadn't come out just two years ago, I'd feel more appreciative of this smaller / more subtle sound. Instead it just feels similar. I can hear Low Key, world
  6. I'm curious how much money goes into marketing these events. I'm sure there are cool stores where more than 5-10 people show up, but I bet it's a pretty small number. The store near me that had the "party" caters to a pretty sceney crowd that wouldn't be caught dead with a wilco record in their bag.
  7. A lot of the album sounds like it could have been on Sukirae. Nope isn't the only one.
  8. I received my shipping notification as well for the orange vinyl...
  9. The last two concerts I went too had a strict (absolutely no cell phone photography or filming during the show, violators will be subject to ejection from the performance) it was on the tickets and announced before the show started. It actually worked pretty well, only a few People broke the rules and took a quick photo, but no one just blatantly filmed it.
  10. I've said it before and I'll say it again, cell phones filming needs to be banned from shows. If security sees it, they should confiscate their phones. Taking a quick picture is ok...as long as it's not every 2 mins, but holding your phone in place for an entire concert is beyond disrespectful. There should be a loud speaker warning before every show , like at the movies.
  11. Yeah I totally agree with this. If it was just another wilco album i would probably be more disappointed. I do think more than a few of these tracks feel like "solo" or Tweedy material. So there are some comparisons there. I need more time on this one. It feels just a tad Too slight. It may come off better live.
  12. I think a lot of the "community" will have already heard the album during said listening parties and will be in/out of the store in a couple minutes. But to each his/her own.
  13. So I'll go out on a limb and say the album isn't doing it for me at the moment. It's has some good tracks, but overall it feels a bit joyless. I'm hoping I come around to it.
  14. Hey I totally understand being "true" to the band or something, but then why did you download it early in the first place? And how can you possibly resist listening to it after you've downloaded it? If you live in south Florida I can point you to a store that already has it for sale on the shelf. The album has been legally obtained now by several people. Should they not listen to it because wilco is having a promotional event at a record store? Scratching my head here.
  15. My local mom and pop store already has Schmilco vinyl for sale.
  16. Thanks for the nice words John but my post was directed at the Mods, and the band itself who requested we take any mention of the leak down. Anyway, it's over now. Let's focus on everyone's opinion of the record. It's one of their most unique to date.
  17. Wow Mr Link. Here is my take in less words. I heard it leaked from a friend , that doesn't post here. Although I may have alerted the board first, I have no idea where it originated from. Either does he. The Internet works almost instantaneous these days. So once it's out there , there isn't much you can do. I made the board aware immedialty for a few reasons. 1. Out of all the corners of the Internet, this is probably the largest gathering of hardcore Wilco fans. Fans that not only have seen them live and follow all their concert set lists, but Fans that have no qualms pre ordering th
  18. I don't know if I think this should be "mixed" As one record. I think it works better as a true double album though. I think they really nailed the feel and themes on each. It's a ying/yang experience.
  19. "A weird little folk record" is a good descriptor. So is "a fucked up country album"
  20. Common sense is one of the stranger songs in the catalog. I like Quarters a lot. It's a weird album for sure. Going to take a bit of work to digest, unlike Star Wars which felt much more immediate.
  21. Let's keep this thread about impressions and thoughts once you hear it.
  22. Someone on Facebook said it was a spoof article. For a spoof article it's not very funny. Just saying.
  23. About half way through. At this point. I'm not clear what to think. It's seems back to basics and progressive at the same time. It's interesting.
  24. Writing a "list" as your review is extremely lazy,. I hope this guy finds a job he's better at.
