Sorry, I don't think it's goint to stop being awesome to me. I do hope we both like what's inside of it.
If the album is terrible, it will probably be the worst album cover ever...
Someone on Stereogum is calling the album Ishtar...LOL

Late comer here, I like the artwork! It's hard to catch up on 10 PAGES of post. Did anyone see this below the photo?
More details to come very, very soon. In stores and on the nets June 30, at the latest.
I like that!!!
Im tired of the teasing, I just want to know when they will start streaming it already. Kind of like what Radiohead did. Basically said "Hi..our album is done, will leak it in about 7 days. If you want to give us money for it, go ahead. The physical product will be out in a few weeks"
All bands should do this.
-
I wonder if Maders will hang the album up in their restaurant..
-
The cover rules. Much like the new Neko Case, I find the complaints come from people who struggle with the idea that quality art can be light hearted.
I would also like to add that the photograph is exceptionally well taken/processed.
I like the Neko Case cover, but I don't find it nearly as absurd or abstract as a camel with a party hat in front of a german restaurant.
-
based on the shoot photos. I bet the store window picture will be on the back of the CD. 6 Empty Chairs...6 Empty suits..
-
If I have one complaint, is that the picture looks too staged. I think it would have been better without the wall, so it just looked like a Camel in the middle of the parking lot having a party. He looks a bit caged in.
-
the more I think about this cover, the more I laugh, and the more I enjoy it.
One things for sure, it's definitely going to get people talking about the album.
-
Jen, someone mentioned the name of the restaurant in the background, and you can see (just past the camel's front hump [NAPE]) that the font matches the restaurant's name:
(Is that picture showing up?)
So yeah, I think that's kind of cool.
Wow Thats kind of cool I guess.
They must really like that restaurant

the new artwork is complete crap! i was really hoping for some amazing minimalist picture in the vein of yhf, sbs. those covers went hand in hand with the music. my hopes are beginning to wain about this record. i might listen to it before the release after all. oh well.
you can't be serious....
-
The music is the party. And they aren't there while you are listening to it.
Ok so then how does the camel fit in?
-
The font is the only thing I don't love about it. It doesn't match the pic, IMO.
It is fantastic though, and I agree that it's probably a "we're not taking ourselves too seriously" thing.
The font is a total 70s throwback. It looks like the font on a bad folk record.
-
So...let me try to analyze this...
Wilco didn't show up to their own party? The camel represents the band as an object? Which has been deserted by it's own members...
I have no clue if its suposed to mean anything..
-
Best Wilco album cover by a longshot.
my heart still belongs to those sad, scary, and mysterious marina city towers on the cover of YHF.
-
It's arty. It's silly. What's not to love about it?
i don't know, I guess it will have to sink in. I like the idea about it being one of the bad 70s album covers. I understand it's intentionally bad, but im sure more then a few people wont get the joke.
Im just glad it doesn't say Wilco (The Album) on it.
I like the Font..

WTF? Awesome?
-
I've had this for weeks.
LOL, well is it any good then?

Glenn Kotche can peradiddle.

I dreamed about suing you again last night
it felt alright to me
filing on the terms of a contract left unsigned
I watched your wallet bleed
and buried you alive in a settlement today
raining down on me
your cold-hard cash flowing over me like a sea
I printed my name on the back of a suit
And I had it filed away
The dough I had in catalog of songs and movies
Is all I tried to save
So my health brought me back, via Cook County
In the middle of the spring
And all for $50k (read: fifty-k), or whatever comes from this thing
You know I'll break my back one of these days
And turn on poor VC
You'll watch a man with a face like mine
Suing fans for their parodies
And when I get caught I won't be right
And I won't get a cent
I'm suing you,
I'm suing you,
Via Cook County
my cups are cracked and hooked above the sink
it makes me think
cumbling pelvis bones don't fix themselves on their own, now
crawling to court with a lash, sue into submission
to rest my hip on a pillowy star at a hospice care
don't say I wouldn't go that far!
gotta pay the rent,
god my hip is spent,
searching for a cent,
via Cook County
searching for a cent,
searching for a cent...
wow..you took my original idea and totally ran with it. Awesome work. I wish I could parody so well...

So they sent out promos with no artwork? Not unheard of I guess but the release is next month, i think it is weird there is no artwork.
It is strange that were a little over a month away with no artwork, but its not unheard of for bands to send promos without artwork or with alternate artwork. I used to work at a radiostation, and I have several promos that not only have different or no artwork, they also have different tracklistings. My prize is a promo of OK Computer which came in a paper sleeve with alternate art work, as well as a CD with alternate disc art. (same tracklisting though)

I think any venue is a good venue to see Wilco, except maybe a big stadium. I've seen them in a 7,000-seat amphitheatre and a 1,100-person SRO club, and I would gladly do either or both again.
I was born in Royal Oak. Wish I still lived there...

Well, because Feist is on the record that means PFork either has to give it a 9-something, or give all future Feist records 6's. She's HAWT to them right now.
You know, yesterday they said that the lyrics to Peaches' "Fuck the Pain Away" showcased complex and conflicting emotions. Have you EVER heard that song? That got my quota for the day.
No Fesit is already old news. The next album gets a 6 tops. Looking forward to them making a joke about Apple and VW getting together for a new song..
-
So...if Pitchfork gives this album a good review will you all love them again?
-
The tribute album song list is filling up fast. Time to start thinking of album titles.
Being Sued
Lawyerteeth
Midwest Courtroom Fistfight
A Jury is Born
Kicking (Ass on Court) Television
Bennett v. Tweedy (The Lawsuit)
you forgot my song Via Cook Courtroom..its back a few pages.

I agree on AGIB, but not on SBS.
Personally, after the drug filled paranoia of YHF and the chaotic recovery depression of GIB, SBS came as a breath of fresh air. Don't get me wrong I still love those albums, but I was kind of ready for Wilco to make a more straight forward record after such an intense amount of music.
When I heard "Maybe the sun will shine today" for the first time. I cracked a smile, sat down with a cup of coffee (it was Sunday Morning, i remember) and soaked in the warmth. The album may not be as thrilling as the previous two, but it makes up for it in true heart. For once the sonic walls that Jeff had put up over the last few records had come crumbling down. It's really a very soothing record to me, and it seemed to come at just the right time in my life.

Please listen to the album before writing it off. No one cares that you dislike the album art in the first place.
