  1. A couple of things that really I thought were crucial my freshman year were: 1. Carpet - Weather it be an area rug or one from the local hardware store that covers the whole floor, it will make a huge difference in the comfort level of your room. I suggest the full rug. 2. A nice big mini fridge if its allowed, the more room the better, you'd be amazed with how much you'll use it. 3. Wireless headphones - this isn't really crucial but I found them to be rather nice. I like to go to sleep listening to music, and it also helps if you and your roommate(assuming you'll have one) have different sle
  2. I'm actually pretty excited about this. Since Bonnaroo's headliners are... well... lackluster. I'm not sure how the atmosphere is going to be with metallica fans. Metal, metallica, death and destruction are not my cup of tea, nor did I think it was bonnaroo's. Rothbury is far closer to home , and the surrounding area is really, really nice. Sliver lake has some of the best dunes I have ever been to, and Oceana County is one of the most beautiful in the lower peninsula. The lineup isn't amazing especially for $245 ticket prices, but it's better than anything else around here besides lolla(wh
  3. I also would like to thank VC for opening my eyes to Mr. Bird... and John Vanderslice... and The National... and Beirut.... I'm sure there is more, i just can't think of it right now.
  4. I voted too, and I also think that it is a very complete list, at least for me. The idea of an end of the year list is to compare albums to other ones released that year, not to previous releases by the artists.
  5. Best: 1. Andrew bird playing violin, on Jesus etc. with them in Detroit. 2. Seeing them close with Casino Queen, and Outasite Outamind in Detroit. Missed: 1. I was at Bonnaroo, but missed them play there. (for 4th row white stripes spots)
  6. That song drives me up the freakin' walls. I does not help that just about every other college student seems to think its the greatest thing since sliced bread. It seems like at every single sporting event and party it must be played a good dozen times too. Fortunately, I have a better stereo than anyone within earshot of my apartment, and have no problem blasting some Andrew Bird or The National to drown out the garbage.
  7. I've got a couple of libble invites. PM me if you're interested. EDIT: All gone for now. Sorry.
  8. I've always thought that animals was a severely underrated album.
  9. Good to hear Mr. Bell is one step ahead in this chess game.
  10. Bad news. Looks like it's time for waffles and others to do some ISP searching PS, thanks for the invite Loial.
  11. Radiohead - All I Need The White Stripes - A Martyr for My Love for You Andrew Bird - Fiery Crash Wilco - At Least Thats What You Said Elliott Smith - Kiwi Maddog 20/20 Something about Kiwi Maddog has always made me love it, from the first time I heard it.
  12. That would be sweet! I was at the Kalamazoo show too, and I agree that their seemed to be great chemistry between Oberst and Rawlings at that show.
  13. Dag-nabit, I missed the webcast because, I was at www2.radiohead.tv. Edit: nevermind
  14. I like to pretend that that didn't happen, especially since on paper, it didn't happen. I was there, 8 rows off the floor, and I can tell you that our freshman are simply amazing, we just need to get our returning players to remember how to play basketball.
  15. I'd go with "Take of your band-aids, because I don't believe in touchdowns" I wish I would have been this into Wilco when I graduated. :S
