Stephen Malkmus fans divide into Pig Lib fans or Face the Truth fans, the same way Pavement fans split into Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain or Wowee Zowee partisans: Either you like the guy best when he zones out on the guitar for hours at a time, mumbling and rambling and diddling around, or you prefer his brief, quirky song fragments. Last time, on 2005's Face the Truth, he offered a bunch of cute freak-folk ditties

I'm looking forward to the new album, Stay Positive, due out this spring/summer.

Thick is great, but before Magic it was my least favorite (something has to be right?)

You're more of a melodic dude from what I know about you (which isn't much).

My first exposure to them (The Black Keys that is) was thickfreakness, so I'll always have a soft spot for that album. Raw, fuzzy, and distorted guitar. Yummy.

They should play Impossible Germany and rock it out long. It is live television. You think Lorne's gonna cut to commercial on them?

If that's the plan, they'd be smart to play it second.
