Dude it's insane. That's just off the top of my head. Also Ben Kweller, Secret Machines, Don Henley, Lyle Lovett, Reverend Horton Heat, Steve Miller, Michelle Shocked, Lucinda Williams, Old 97's, American Analog Set, Edie Brickell, Eisley, Okkervil River ... freakin' Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Clarkson for cryin' out loud!
I'm pretty sure Okkervil River is originally from New Hampshire.

Texas baby! You can also take credit for Jerry Jeff Walker. While originally from Onieda, NY, he made his mark musically once he migrated to TX.

huh, didn't know that! didn't know about Guster either.
They started as a band @ Tufts University in Medford, MA.
-
Yeah, I was thinking Boston rather than Massachusetts, and I don't really think of Dino Jr as a Boston band.
They're not really a Boston band as they're from Amherst, MA. But we are talking home states here.
-
As for Michigan ... well, we have Ted Nugent () and Bob Seger (), but more importantly, we have the MC5 and Iggy Pop. Patti Smith now calls Michigan home. The White Stripes are from here.
Kid Rock. And that white rapper dude.

The Cars?
Boston?
I should probably include the Modern Lovers, the Pernice Brothers, and Dinosaur Jr.
I was scrolling down to rip you about excluding Dino Jr.

All you BTCD haters might want to read this review from a former hater at the Village Voice.
-
Well, I'm still not sold on BTCD, and we were going to get Sirens anyway since it had been in the can for a long time before the split, so I'm still mad.
I love BTCD. I'd rank it as my 3rd favorite Truckers album behind Deco Day and SRO. Sirens was on the shelf for a while as New West didn't want it to be released the same year as a DBT album. Patterson's 2nd solo album has been on the shelf as well for similar reasons. Due to shit like this, DBT has left New West.
-
Incorrect on both counts.
You've apparently never heard Sweetheart of the Rodeo. You can't tell me that's "mainstream fluff."
Which version of The Byrds? They certainly weren't mainstream fluff with Parsons on board. You need to check out Sweetheart of the Rodeo. -
I thought Jason was an excellent addition/part of DBT. I was very upset when I heard he was out of the band. However, considering we got Sirens of the Ditch and Brighter Than Creation's Dark in the wake of it, I now think it was a very good thing.
-
I was thinking more like "F YOU, MOTHER F-ING BACKSTABBING C*CKSUCKERS!"
Well. . . . That's me you quoted over on NineBullets and one of the moderators has infered I'm jumping to conclusions.
-
I can't post that on an all ages message board.
A big ol' F.U. to DBT perhaps?
-
I loved the sentiment steeped in that picture enough to make it my avatar!
And what sentiment do you think that is?

Oddly enough, the Truckers are going to be playing the same place in March, although I don't think they'll have trouble filling it up. I thought it was pretty crappy that they had a poster for the DBT show outside Jason's dressing room. So I pulled it down and took it home.
Oh, and the album is coming, and he says it's gonna be a rocker

And just to point out what someone on ninebullets.org says:
But the split was amicable and mutual. Cue up photo of Jason with middle finger extended, holding up Sirens poster.
What asshole posted that?
Now playing: February 2008

Wow! This is an excellent album. Thanks for the heads up.
