How could it possibly matter to you if a band puts a record out or not?
It's not me I'm trying to protect.
-
I don't know that they ever retired.
Hiatus, sabbatical, break, leave of absence, whatever we'd like to call it, please stay there.
-
The same way Counting Crows should stick to "retirement."

I wanna know how the guy from the Counting Crows used to fuck everybody from 'Friends'? How the fuck'd he do it? He's an ugly motherfucker! He's fatter than me! What the fuck's he got? Money. If the guy next to you ever bought a Counting Crows album, punch him in the face!

There's only one band that truly alters my heartrate. . . . . The National.

Analogoman has the band pretty well covered. My 2 favorites are Muswell Hillbillies (an all-time favorite album of mine by any band) and Lola Versus Powerman & the Moneygoround.

the last time i saw them (not by choice) was opening for The Who in 2003, yikes that was not pretty...
Quite a pairing.

There is, however, a (ahem!) leaked version floating around cyberspace.

Good stuff. Nice to see Pat's scrappy mug @ the top.

Counting Crows are a one album wonder for me. August was a big one in college for me. Every now and again I'll pull out the disc and give it a listen. It stills holds up more than a decade later. But their other stuff does nothing for me. Is Duritz still serial dating the cast of Friends?

I cannot get enough of this band lately....
With my fairly recent foray into The National, many folks have pointed to these guys as a big influence on The National. I don't hear it and I think these guys have a very, very dated sound. Fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

and now my ears are bleeding

Dave was a college staple on mine in the mid-90's. I started drinking hard alcohol and somehow I was less inclined to like Dave and more drawn to guys like Mick & Keith.

Totally. Some of the songs are duds, but Echo is better than Wildflowers and I'm taking that opinion to my grave.
Echo is a great album, but let's not get carried away here. . . . .
Two new Counting Crows songs available on their website
