  1. Yes a "poor man's copyright." Mail your song to yourself and don't let anyone open it. That's what I do for people when I do their Will's, POA's, ect. The email would work also since we are in that era of time... Good Luck!

That's what we did back in "the day". You know before the interwebs.

Tape ourselves playing a song, with the name of the band written on the tape, and send it certified mail to ourselves and never open it. Although we were more worried about someone stealing the name of our band, rather than the song itself.

  2. I'm actually not quite sure whether or not to take that last post ("Why don't you just call him...") seriously, based on the thread thus far...

I don't really want to post my song for anyone to stream or download, because this isn't just some two-bit crap recorded on a a dictaphone, it isn't copyrighted, and it could be stolen. I appreciate the suggestion though, and I'm sure there are plenty of people on here who could give me good production tips. This is just one of those things though. I thought, "Hey, I want Jeff Tweedy to hear this..." and decided to try and follow through with it.

I think I may have a way, now. I know somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody... approximately, and I don't think any of them would have a problem just passing on a CD. Or, maybe I'll just send a disc once it's all produced and nicely packaged.

It would be humorous if Jeff Tweedy stalked this forum though. I would, if people talked this way about me...

    ...

    ... Jeff? Is that you?

Well, the only way for your song to get heard is for it to, you know... be heard!

Don't worry so much about it being stolen(although I hear it is quite spectacular), just put it out there and see what happens.

After all, if the whole world's singing your song, what was yours is everyone's from now on.

  3. I got mine from a friend and he said there was only 3 months left on the subscription.

Almost 2 years later and it's still going! :P

I work with a guy who's always going to swap meets. He says he picks up the receivers every time he sees them and 9 times out of 10 they work for months.

So my point is, I have one, but I don't have the subscription.

  4. I thought for sure there would be a thread on this already (and there probably is. my search skills on this forum are less than stellar),

but I just heard that on Sirius XM U this weekend it will be Wilco themed.

All this weekend on Sirius XMU listen for an extra large dose of Wilco music and commentary from Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and John Stirratt.
  5. Watching it right now. First Wilco song was You Are My Face.

2nd Bloc Party song on right now.

Speaking of BP, how long have they been around? Most of them look like they're still in High School.

    I'm liking LCD Sound System.

Second song, SBS? :mellow Oh well...

  6. I picked up Nocturama, because I really dug the track "Bring it On", especially after seeing it on Letterman.

But the rest of the album left much to be desired. Maybe it's due for another listen...

  7. My wife picked up a copy for me the other day, and I just got around to reading the article.

What does it say about me that I decided to finish the Mos Def article before I finished the cover story? :dontgetit

  8. My favorite cable movie edit of all time is Winston Wolfe's altered: "let's not sucking each others popsicles yet."

    "Flip you.."
