it was only done once solo in june 99. cant remember if it was acoustic though, cause jeff played electric on some of those gigs. i'll try and check tonight
That would be excellent.. Hope it won't be too much trouble for you. I'm just trying to get some ideas because I'm planning on covering it.

Anyone know where to find an acoustic version of this song? Maybe live somewhere from a living room show?
-
YES! I live in Charleston.. WOO HOO.. I knew they had to come back after playing here in 2005.. They rocked the roof off of the joint.. I'm there!
-
I had not heard that SBS got a nomination....very cool, no matter what happens.
LouieB
It is very cool indeed.. Good bands do get nominations. I forgot about some of the other great musicians that have received nominations/awards over the years. Steely Dan, Coldplay (even though they haven't done shit in a while).. I guess they have to still have the crappy artists get nominations so they can fill up an entire awards show..
Speaking of Coldplay, if Chris Martin ever got his heart broken by Gwyneth Paltrow (which she has been notorious for in the past), his next album would be incredible!

Really don;t think you want the kind of epiphany I had or what caused it...
Now you've got us on the edge of our seats wondering what happened to you.. nah, just kidding.. You don't have to share it if you don't want.. I had an epiphany when my first child was born. And I felt bad when it wasn't the same feeling after my second one. Yes, it was great and all, but there's just something about that first one..

I don't think everyone would necessarily agree with this.
AGIB does have it's rocking moments, but so does SBS. I think they are about the same rockingwise.. I guess they are calling SBS "Rock" because it's a little more mainstream sounding than AGIB.. Now I definitely wouldn't call SBS mainstream, but it's a little easier on the ears for your average rock fan than AGIB is.. AGIB has the more "alternative" sounding songs like Spiders or I'm a Wheel.

Wow, that brings back memories of my Boston days.. Even though I believe that's New York?

The Grammys are good exposure for Wilco and that's it.. But they don't really say anything about the album or the band.. I mean, look at all of the Foo Fighters nominations.. I'm sorry to all of you Foo Fighter Fans, but turn on a recent Foo Fighters song and just really listen to it.. it..... SUCKS... Ok, enough about that.. I don't want to turn this into a bash The Foo Fighters thread..

I've lived in the south for most of my life so I haven't seen much of it of course. Here in Charleston, it snowed for maybe 45 seconds last year.. A couple of flakes and that was it.. I was like "hey, it's snowing!........... wait.. nevermind..."

Best Moment: Seeing this live from the 2nd row at Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte, NC:
For those of you who don't care to watch, it's a clip of Jeff singing part of Humming Bird with a little girl in his arms and doing his great "run in place" dance with her.. Classic, beautiful moment.. My wife fell in love with Jeff Tweedy that night (it's ok.. I'm not jealous, I love him too).. She loved to see him do that for a child and it shows that he's a good father. -
I second that. North Charleston South Carolina at the Performing Arts Center.. Wilco played there in March of 05.. Perfect place to see Wilco.

the old one was pulled, as it was remastered into
Anyone else have problems with this after it's burned to DVD? I burned mine, the menu comes up fine, the first song plays ok, but when it gets to the second song, it just freezes.. Almost like there is a scratch on the DVD or something, but there isn't because it's freshly burned.. Any ideas?

But yeah, I would say if you really want to learn it or gig with it, do what rileykill said.
Yep.. That's what I've been doing... Hoping to find a good used/vintage one. Just thought I'd ask because Rogue's always get great reviews.. But like I said, I think it's a conspiracy..
-
Yeah.. You are both probably right. Even though the EA-3 has gotten great reviews, it just seems too darn cheap.. And who knows, it could be that Musicians Friend employees left those reviews to help sell the product... I have always suspected that..
-
I've never played Lap Steel in my life, but I want a cheap one just to mess around with. Anyone ever play this one?
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Rog...-Bag?sku=513453
I know $80 sounds really cheap, so I'm of course skeptical.. I just want something to mess around with, but I also don't want something too cheap and that will sound like crap.. I do plan to gig some with it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do have "enable flash movies" checked in Quicktime, so maybe bandwidth is the issue. I'll keep trying, and hopefully it will work soon!
Do you have another computer you can try it on? Maybe a friends? Maybe quicktime needs to be re-downloaded and installed.. It's possible it's become corrupted..
-
You could just sign up.
There is some good stuff up at that place. They have it set up nicely - video and audio torrents each in a separate section.
I have actually never seen a torrent open like that on tape city - I don't know why it was viewable without being logged in.
Actually, I am signed up.. For some reason when I was there yesterday, I was logged in, and it had a message "this thread has been closed...". Hmm.. Maybe I'm an idiot and I was doing something wrong, but I can see it now.. Thanks.
-
Crap, just as I was going to try to download again, they closed the thread..
Oh well. Maybe it will show up somewhere else..
-
So is anyone else having trouble getting the actual download to work? I get to the screen that tells me to Click to download the Sky Blue Sky Bonus, but nothing happens when I click.
I'm running the latest version of Quicktime on Vista Home Premium. If anyone has any ideas (other than "upgrading" to XP...which will probably be happening soon), it would be much appreciated!
I can't remember what the setting is called (I dont have quicktime on this computer) but there is a setting that needs to be checked in the Quicktime settings from Control Panel. Something to do with "enable flash movies".. There are instructions in text file on the SBS disk.

"Let's Not Get Carried Away" - is that Zeppelin meets White Album era Beatles, or what???? (I think it's great, by the way)
Yeah, that song just flat out rocks.. I guess it didn't fit well with SBS, that's why it wasn't included in the original release.. But it's definitely album worthy. The drum solo at the end? I mean.. How kick ass is that..
-
Ok thanks.. Just thought it was a little unusual that I haven't received another email from Wilco HQ for download instructions.. And it doesn't say anything about specific instructions on the two posts you left.
Guess I'll just pop in my SBS CD when I get home and see what happens...
-
Sorry if this is posted somewhere else..
I saw the Wilco HQ email a couple weeks ago that the tour edition would be available to download via SBS.. It said that more info on the download procedure would be available shortly, but never saw it.. Anyone know the scoop on this?
-
tried that as well. got the error message "unsupported format"... stuffit usually works for spanned files, i've used it in the past. this is starting to piss me off. i just want to watch the f***ing video!!!
Yep, the spanned zipped file doesn't work for me either.. Tried it through DropZip, just does nothing, tried it through 7-Zip "unsupported format".. Plus I have Winzip 11 and it should have been able to handle it, but it came back with "invalid archive.. please re-download.. etc..."
And to top that off, the torrent doesn't work either.. Tried it with two different clients.. Oh well... :-(
