Doh! Obviously song titles are not my forte, don't even try to get me to list lyrics from memory! Hey, maybe it IS all related to some pretty grand "misspent" youth
-
That version of Misunderstood is sublime.
Yes! And I can never get enough of "I've Been Had" ... plus we never really get enough of John's "It's Just That Simple" so this was really a fun short set Kudos to Wilco for helping KEXP on their fundraising. Donating!

Wooohoo! thanks linclink

I watched this from home on headphones, and I was blown away. Best $20 bucks on "live" music I've spent in a long time. It was flawless from the standpoint of live webcasting without any glitches, kudos on that! I've seen MMJ live many times, but I really hope they turn this show into a live DVD, because I just can NEVER get enough of Carl rocking out like that!

New ticketing agency for Wilco
In our continuing efforts to find the most effective and simple way for you to obtain tickets via our pre-sales, we’re making a change. From today forward all pre-sales will be facilitated be by our new partners — a company called CrowdSurge (a part of Songkick). Which means pre-sales will no longer be run by Front Gate Tickets. Trust us when we say that for reasons far too boring to go into here, this makes sense for us moving forward.
If you already have a Wilco account on Front Gate Tickets, you will receive an e-mail on steps to create your new CrowdSurge account.
We are excited about the new opportunities this partnership will create and hope you will bear with us while we all aim to make this transition as smooth as possible for everyone.
Love, Wilco HQ
*Please note that the transfer of your information from Front Gate Tickets to CrowdSurge was monitored; none of your information was or will ever be compromised. -
Looks like Wilco has a new ticketing partner, CrowdSurge. Farewell FrontGate.

I'm from Indiana and decided to forego this show due to bad date for me, but even if I had a ticket, I'd be proud to miss it to teach these asshole politicians the lesson they can't seem to learn on their own, unless they get hit with financial loss. They need to be humiliated. I'm so ashamed of the reputation my state is receiving, but it is well earned. So bravo to Wilco for this decision. I just love them so much for doing the right thing even though it costs Wilco money to cancel. Right on!
PS - I also couldn't get a decent seat for the show! Lol. Too popular these days!

Preordered! Tickets to show purchased! Love this.

Good grief, THEY ARE DOING A BENEFIT! Why is this being dissected at all? Buy a ticket if you want to go. Honestly.
I'm so happy it's happening and will be attending. This is the best news I've heard in ages, and it's pretty close to the best Tweedy solo event ever.

Hey - Does anyone seriously care if a new thread is started every month? With only 3 or 4 pages a month, it seems sort of unnecessary IMO.
Just think - if you're trying to find an older post, it will be RIGHT IN HERE! Date of post included automatically! Pinned and stickied for your posting pleasure!
And if it gets too long we can start a new one! Just send me a PM and I'll do it. I get an email msg that tells me someone sent me a PM, so I'll be prompt. Just so you know, posting demands in this thread can go unread for ... hmmm, easily 3 weeks, especially if I'm super busy with RL. (Which I am! Sorry, for the delay, but I've downsized and moved my 86-year-old mother into a retirement home Jan 6, and preparing our family home of 50 years for sale while my own house is being renovated for mold, plus working 40 hours a week, its pretty overwhelming. Thanks for understanding.)
OK, let's hear your reasons for requiring a monthly separate thread for your "now-listening posts."
~W
(Edited to add clarification ... this is your thread, and if you all decide you really need a monthly tweak, that's fine! Just send me a PM to tweak it and it will get done, okay? )

I was watching from home and it sounded like she wanted Jeff to sing "The Dreidel Song."

I got print at home.

I hope they resurface in some configuration and bring us more awesome music. Never got to see them!

Glad you could get past his impetuous past and not miss out on some great music. I'm particularly sorry (selfishly, yes) that you didn't get the photo pass, as your photos are always excellent.
I'm hoping to catch him at the Chicago show in October.

Oh my - you really have quite a bounty here! Wish I could just get it together for some herbs!

My opinion:
Am I reading into this or is John's tone when talking about Wilco/Tweedy a bit...distant?
I think you are. I don't get that tone at all. John sounds to me like a man proud of his own band and his own songs and vision. And serious about it.
“I am really surprised how long Wilco has lasted and how long Autumn Defense has lasted,” Stirratt says. “I am pleasantly surprised by the amount of time both projects have lasted. I did feel a kinship with Pat much in the way I felt with Jeff early on. These are people that I could work with for a long time.”and
Neither Stirratt nor Sansone would categorize The Autumn Defense as a side project. The band is as important to them as their contributions to Wilco.
Maybe it's the often-used term "side project" by interviewers and writers that they object to, as if the term might have some connotation of "less important" or lacking in dedication or something like that.
Jeff has said that Wilco as a band can withstand personnel changes, "but not John." So there's that.
IMO, John has the best of all possible gigs as a musician -- he's got a solid job with Wilco, as do all of the band members (Jeff has said he loves his band) - and they have a variety of stellar creative alternatives outside of Wilco.
This has been said before, but "Be Not So Fearful."
Maybe I'm just being an optimist here, but I am just as worried about Wilco surviving the Tweedy solo record as I was when Jim James made his solo record outside of My Morning Jacket (which was not at all worried).
... there, my 2 cents.

Thanks Crow - good advice for both men and women with your symptoms. Glad to hear you're feeling so much better, too!

Since this thread started in 2009, I believe Ear-XTacy closed, and so did Lynn's Paradise Cafe. Two of my go-to spots in Louisville!
However - this most fabulous coffee shop is still alive: Highland Coffee on Bardstown Rd. "Hair-Raser" dark roast is awesome.

Weird ... and awesome! Love it! I want more episodes!!!
