  2. One could make the same statement regarding Global Warming and an individuals responsibility to fight it any way they can.
  3. The following link may help explain why some of us find this so distasteful and disturbing. Chapter One of No Logo by Naomi Klein http://books.guardian.co.uk/firstchapters/...,402483,00.html
  4. I would like to think that they are not, yet, commercials sell products, lots and lots of products. In all seriousness, look into the psychology behind marketing, they are literally trying to bypass the logic centers of your brain. That
  5. Here - let me help you: "But if driving a VW means skipping the party to drive along the cost with my friends and nick drake on a beautiful starry night, or if it means that i'd be so impressed with a little VW rabbit or golf that i'd move it to make sure it was in a legal parking spot--well, i'd rather be that kind of person." I was responding to this statement - I gave an example that attempted to show that this image of a VW driver is fiction - that the person driving the VW is just as likely to be a Nick Drake hating fascist or whatever.... You are simply being sold on an image.
  6. Your second point. They're work friends - and very nice people - we just disagree on many issues. I have all sorts of friends, some are very earthy crunchy, others not so much - from very liberal - to scary conservative, but we all share one thing - a sense of humor.

  12. But, skipping that party and driving up the coast is not something a VW driver is more or less likely to do
  13. My sentiments exactly. This press release sort of suggests that this
  14. You don't really want me to pick up this here stick and use it on that there horse lying over yonder now, do you? The one collecting flies, all bony of rib and sunken eyed. Do you?!?
  15. That made me laugh - I needed to laugh - thanks for making me laugh. Now - let me return the favor: What kind of bees make milk? Boob-bees. See, you're laughing, it's in spite of yourself - but you're laughing. The best dam comedy a four year old could provide.
  16. "1 Jun 2007 : In a new form of music/promotion/communications, the band Wilco's recently released album Sky Blue Sky is the soundtrack to Volkswagen's latest TV campaign. This new form of marketing collaboration has the creative forces of Wilco and VW combining to launch both an album and a VW campaign in the same week (May 22nd). The partnership spans multiple commercials and multiple songs, with the first song being "The Thanks I Get." The Wilco Volkswagen union will run for the summer and all songs can be streamed on vw.com. It's also the first-ever licensing deal for Wilco." - prdomain.com
  17. You haven't forgotten anything, I was never elected - just offering my opinion - your memory is sound.
  18. Ummm...Floyd? You might want to like, invest in a flack helmet and jacket - you've got incoming.
  19. Well, you certainly were being instructional.
