  1. Is it the Platinum Ticket thing?

ding, ding, ding, you're the winner.  At 10 a.m. day of on sale for Indianapolis, Row 1 tickets were $238, row 2 was $218, row 3 was $198.  Row 2 is currently $168, Row 6 $134, and Row 9 $114.  I finally pulled 2 in row 11 at 10:52 a.m. that cost me $130 total with all the fees.  IMO, Tony Margherita Management and Wilco fought the good fight as long as they could.  What I mentioned here I noticed at many shows on this tour.  (insert picture of Johnny Cash giving Live Nation the middle finger)

  2. Also, forgot to mention (and it was discussed in the Radio City thread) but I got a much better look at the black guitar Jeff has recently switched to for a number of the OTJ songs and it actually has a Western theme with some cool images of cowboys, horses and the like on it. Also, as someone else pointed out, it once featured the word “RODEO”, although the ‘R’ and ‘O’ have fittingly been blacked out to leave the word “ODE.”

From the YouTube video, here's a comment about this guitar "@BONSAi it's 1938 Harmony "Rodeo" acoustic cowboy guitar"

  3. updating the software? Or updating the downloaded music that she accesses and stores on her through iTunes?

How has she done so previously?

Updating her music library on her Iphone.  She's doesn't listen to music on her computer, but via Bluetooth listens on speakers in her home office, around the house, and in her car.  I guess I'm wondering if there is any easy was to add/subtract mp3's to her iPhone similar to how easy it is on my Pixel.  We purchase CD's and rip them.  We don't buy music on iTunes, etc.  She previously had iTunes installed on her past employers laptop.

  4. Does anyone have advise to update my wife's iPhone 7 music, using my Windows 10 laptop?   My wife can't use her company's laptop and I have all my music library as ripped mp3's.  Is downloading iTunes on my laptop the easiest solution, or is there something more simple?  I love my Pixel.  Just plug into a USB and drag and drop.

    Thank you

  5. But you can find a few articles right under their headline with titles like "Watch what this McDonalds employee says to a customer" and "Diseased raccoons are running amok in this neighborhood". Keep scrolling for the celebrity "who wore it best?" bikini contest.

    Exactly

  6. I wish I knew a good predictor for where this is going. CNN, NYtimes and WaPo are speaking fire and brimstone, Fox News is saying nothingburger (which has always been the dumbest phrase). Reuters and NPR will only say what's factually happening (cause they're smart).

But man I'd love a crystal ball for this.

I visit Fox News everyday to see what their daily angle is.  Correct me if I am wrong, but I can't find the White House memorandum of conversation with Zelensky nor the whistle blower complaint against trump.

  7. Now, all due appreciation of Schmilco aside, when that latest reviewer wrote "continuation of Wilco’s roiling of imminent threats and storms into deceptively pastoral folk and rock," I interpret the reviewer's point to be that it's more of a return to YHF & AGIB era form; at least of the "Radio Cures" "Ashes" or "Wishful Thinking" variety.  That's what that quote brings to mind for me and what I'm imagining for Ode.

Me too.  Only 3 more weeks until we find out!

  8. I just checked my online Chase Visa account and noticed our tickets for the 11.12.19 Indianapolis show are billed as

    Jul 2, 2019
    TM *THE MOODY BLUES

Entertainment $130.50 See details about this transaction

Anyone else have Ticketmaster bill like this?  I have the correct hard tickets  :rock

I bought tickets for Neil Young and the Promise of the Real on August 10th, for next weeks show at the same venue as Wilco.  AGAIN my credit card billing lists The Moody Blues.  Somethings rotten in Denmark...

  9. Sound like Dead and Co. were at the same location as SBS, yes?

No.  The Dead and Phish events are put on by CID Entertainment at a much larger hotel.  The Hard Rock has been used as a "jump hotel" for these events where they bus people over the the much larger (I believe 10K attendance) sponsor hotel.

Wilco's Sky Blu Sky is put on by Cloud 9.  They put on the Riviera Maya Hard Rock (2,500-3,000) and the Hard Rock Dominican Republic (3,500-4,000) events. http://www.cloud9adventures.com/

I’m curious to see how those of you that have done one of these dealt with the water issue. Is there any food you have to avoid because of it? I’ve clearly never been to Mexico so this may be a stupid question!

There's bottled water everywhere!  The table side water for breakfast, lunch, and dinner comes from bottles as well.   I heard the ice is filtered.  We ate breakfast at Ipanema each morning (buffet style w/ omelettes etc. and dinner at Los Gallos and Toro each evening as well as grilled burgers, etc for lunch at the poolside grill.  We stayed away from anything else buffet style that was sitting around in warmers.  We had no issues.

  10. The assholes will come with the popularity of these type of events.   The first One Big Holiday (2014) was a My Morning Jacket love fest.  (Similar to the first Solid Sound - I wasn't able to attend SS 2, 3, or 4) We all walked around saying hello and helping each other out while our minds were blown with 3 incredible set lists.  They only sold around 1,600 total tickets for a venue that held 2,500.  These type of events had only been put on by Widespread Panic at the time.  The second year was more of the same.  The third year was a bit more frat boy and by 2018 (4th event, 5 years later) in the Dominican Republic with 3,500 or was it 4,000 things had changed drastically.  MMJ played all their albums in order and I met someone that didn't even realize that.  I also met people that had only heard of My Morning Jacket and where there for Portugal The Man.  These people weren't being assholes but shows you that it's more than the music for some.

  11. That all sounds awesome ditty.  When does the music generally start up?  Late afternoon?

The first 2 years in Mexico started around 8-8:30 pm.  The 3rd year in Mexico Deer Tick play an acoustic set around the lagoon on the Hacienda side and started closer to 5 and played until 6:30 and then had a break until things started on the main stage around 7:30 p.m.  The 4th time in the Dominican Republic they started closer to 4 and had music until 5:30, then a break until the main stage started around 7:30 p.m.  My comment to them each year was to NOT start the music before 7 so we had a day of relaxing before we felt there was something we couldn't miss.  I don't think they took my, likely in the minority, comments to heart since they have started earlier each year.  To us, we wanted the vacation all day and music all night experience.  There were nights where the after the show music didn't end until 3 in the morning.

  12. (I thought I posted this but it's not showing up on my screen)

Hey ditty, any suggestions on booking rooms at this place? Looks like there are two sides, not sure if there's a difference but the website says there is. Any thoughts you could share about the place would be appreciated, thanks.

Both sides are very similar.  We stayed in building 9 on the Heaven side all three years (Deluxe Silver Room).  I requested a quite room in the initial booking notes.  We got the cheapest room and I was glad we did since we were only in the room to sleep, nap, and get ready for the evening.  Plan on doing a lot of walking.

Got the sign off from the wife so we’re going! Looks like an awesome lineup, YLT is one of my faves too. Would be very interested to hear OP’s experiences at the MMJ one.

We did the transportation option each year instead of renting a car.  (The Hard Rock is about 50 minutes south of the airport)  The service was great (we brought plenty of singles to tip).  The drinks flow regularly (ask for top shelf drinks).  You can bring an insulated cup to have filled.  We stayed away from the buffets except breakfast.  We ate breakfast at Ipanema each morning and really enjoyed dinner at Los Gallos and Toro.  The beach is a lagoon.  Without this, the waves would beat you to death in this area.  I heard some people take a cab to a local beach for the day, but we were content in finding a quiet place to chill each day.  The sound was very good at the concert and the amount of space was plentiful.  The spa was relaxing.  They give you points but you still pay a %.  All in all we had the time of our life.
