  1. I don't hear SBS as a return to anything. It sounds nothing like AM or Being There. It's definitely something new for them - I just don't like the direction. It just seems like where they would previously have taken Jeff's simple songs and arranged the hell out of them, here they just left them alone. I think if they would have decided to do this with a collection of songs like those on Summerteeth or Yankee Hotel it would have worked. However, their decision to do this seems to have coincided with Jeff not really having much new stuff to say. Lyrically and melodically, these songs are s
  2. This band is so talented, so musically genius, so in command of their playing.... they are on top of the world and singing songs!>> I'm not denying their musicianship. I live in Los Angeles and have known Nels Cline's talent for many many years. This will sound weird and stalker-y but I can honestly say that I would not be anything like who/where I am today were it not for Glenn Kotche's influence. John is easily one of my favorite bass players. Etc. etc. But they noticeably sped up multiple times in places where they shouldn't have been and places that are definitely not on their
  3. Actually Jeff was saying that only very young people should be holding up lighters during songs. I took it to mean that it's something you grow out of when you're like 16... The set started off great but once they got to Impossible Germany it was all downhill. Anyone else notice that they're just not rhythmically tight? They're speeding up all over the place. That didn't used to happen. Via Chicago was fucking incredible as usual though, as Gregory mentioned. Also while the show was sold out, the very front of section A didn't get full until maybe 9:30 or 10. I was dead center in ro
  4. Is this going to happen? I know the rumors are circulating and all but does anyone actually know anything about it? How did they announce it in previous years? Was it on the stubbs website? wilcoweb? or just to insiders? Also what's the deal with the white stripes maybe doing one too?
  5. If you'd me to check for part writing errors (parallel 5th, spacing errors, etc.), let me know... I just got my degree in composition and frequently tutor friends in harmony..
