Wilco — 8/9/15, Troutdale, OR (McMenamins Edgefield)
nwgeek replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
I was so psyched to hear the return of the electric spiders. My first show was the sky blue sky show at the Edgefield in 2008 where they finished the night with an amazing Via Chicago -> Spiders that just went on and on and on. Of the five times I've seen them, this was my favorite show so far. -
If anyone in the Portland area has a poster from the 2007 Edgefield show and wants to sell it, let me know. It was my first show and I didn't pick it up at the time and they quickly sold out. Would love to get it for sentimental reasons. PM me if you are interested. Thanks.

I don't think he liked them very much -

Agreed, such a great show. My fourth one personally and the second at the Schnitz. After seeing the set lists I was so hoping for Sunday->Poor->Art for an opener and got it. Amazing slow burn to start the show. I was absolutely thrilled to hear the acoustic spiders arrangement. In 2007, the Via Chicago->Spiders final encore at the Edgefield gave me chills so I really love the sonic chaos of that song but hearing it stripped down in person (not just a bootleg) was a real treat. Great show, great audience (no talkers or obnoxious drunks near me - three rows in front of the soundbo -
Me either. Bums me out because I know it was recorded (assuming nothing happened to it). Oh well...

I was hoping a copy would show by now but I am starting to doubt that it ever will. I did see a mic stand from the first balcony above me at this show but I haven't seen a copy posted anywhere as of yet...

This tour was the the first time I saw them indoors and the first time I had to deal with the Sit or Stand thing. It was the Portland show and has been said in the thread, the crowd just figured it out. I was a bit self-conscious during start of "At least that's what you said" when I was the only one standing around me but I knew that it was going to get LOUD quickly so I didn't stress over it too much. Sit or Stand is not a new thing, I've had to deal with it for about 20 or so years by people who started to act like a concert is a a movie...weird vibe but whatever, I don't let it get in

Anyone seen a recording get posted yet? I saw a mic sticking off the balcony above my seats at the show.

Wow, GREAT shots, thanks for sharing them. Makes me feel like I was closer than I was

It was the first time they played Sunken Treasure in the three shows I've seen in Oregon. Buck & McCaughey played California Stars with them at the 2007 show I saw in Troutdale. Jeff said something about it being a tradition now I thought the set was a good mix of songs myself although I was surprised there were only four from the latest... The backdrop reminded me of sheets of notebook paper pinned to a sheet in odd patterns. Looked MUCH better with the house lights off.

Thanks, was sleepy last night and it's been a while since I'd heard the original...

Great set, started off mellow and slowly built up. It was my third time seeing them, first time indoors. Different vibe but great show: Sunken treasure Mountain bed Hell is chrome Bull black nova You are my face Trying to break your heart One wing Shot in the arm Sides with seeds At least that's what you said Deeper down Jesus etc (made the crowd sing it without him) Impossible Germany Far far away Sonny feeling Hate it here Walkin Man who loves you -end of the main set- Broken arrow California stars (w/ Peter buck & Scott McCaughey) Heavy metal drummer Kingpin I'm a wheel

Thanks for the report. My wife & I went back and forth on making the road trip from Portland or not. Given that it was a Tuesday and I had to work at 6am Wednesday, it was not too feasible so we decided to pass this time around. I'm hoping they swing back through Oregon again next year like they did for the SBS tour.

It is not often that a particular piece of music grabs me right away on my very first listen but that recently happened to me with and artist named Emily Wells. Someone sent me a link to this video on YouTube of Emily performing live and I was amazed at what I saw: It blew me away watching her perform all the mixes and overdubs live by herself and then when I heard her voice it gave me chills. I immediately bought her latest release after seeing that video and was just as impressed with the entire album. It's sort of a combination of Classical, Free form Jazz, Rock and Hip-Hop all mas

The first time I bought a Wilco CD, it was "Being There". It was six years ago on my honeymoon in Yellowstone. I had heard the story of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and picked up "Being There" by mistake because I could not remember the title to YHF. We listened to it and a Towns Van Zandt CD as we drove around Yellowstone for a week. I quickly picked up the rest of catalog & explored Uncle Tupelo & Sun Volt as well. The first time I heard Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, I was intrigued and kept it in rotation for quite a while. It's funny to me that the songs I liked at first are not the ones I

Wow, great photos! Thanks for sharing. Yeah, Jeff was teasing him pretty heavy about how the crowd demanded it. After some hesitation he went all out, it was great.

Give it some time, the show isn't even a week old yet.

Ah that's right, La Luna. It used to be called the Pine Street Theater. The same place where I saw the infamous "We're Sorry Portland" show by the Replacements in 1987. I'm often amazed I did not walk out of that show...it was a total trainwreck with the climax being their unintelligible version of "Summer of 69" by Bryan Adams. To be honest, in hindsight, I found it boring because I really didn't know any of their tunes besides "Creep" which was all over the air at the time. I think the show was like $9 or something. They were just starting to transition to the sound that they have es

I was amazed as well. The Troutdale show last year was packed in tight. It was nice to have some room to take in some air (even though the air on three sides of me was filled with a lot of Pot smoke). I've got no problem if people want to light up near me, but I sure wish they would exhale in the air above instead of towards people... I flew to Chicago on business last August right after I saw them in Troutdale. I missed their Chicago show by one day. I would have loved to seen them again so soon & in their home turf.

Radiohead - Pablo Honey tour in a little club in Portland Oregon. I was bored silly after about 45 mins.

Great show, killer set list. Crowd seemed pretty mellow at first. Maybe it was the amazing sunshine and mellow atmosphere. As the darkness fell, they seemed to really get into it. I'll post some pics after I drive back home today. Talked to a taper who promised me he'll put the show on a torrent asap

I'm heading off to the Bend show tomorrow morning. One year ago I saw them for my first time ever at the McMenamins show in Troutdale. I was blown away! It was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Only topped by my first show ever (The Police, Ghost in the Machine Tour, 5th Row, dead center, 1982). I am totally psyched to see them again. I've got my roadtrip playlists all set for the 4 hour drive...

Thanks so much for doing this! I'm psyched that I get to relive the show all over again.

If you were the person in front of the scaffolding, then you were about 20 feet off to my right at the show. I almost walked over to a few times to ask if I could obtain a copy...I'm glad to see you here on the boards! This was my first Wilco show and I can honestly say that in over 25 years of seeing concerts, this ranks up there in the top five I have _ever_ seen. It was such an amazing experience and the crowd was really into it. Every song sounded great. I personally only missed hearing two songs that were not in the set list (Sunken Treasure and Thanks I get) but I really have no com
