  1. if you want to quote multiple posts, click the quote button on each one you wanna quote, and it will turn a diff color, then hit add reply and voila
  2. http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?act=announce&f=7&id=9 currently this forum is at 30 days, i'll see how that runs for a while, and if people would like me to keep it at 60 days, i can start that the next cycle
  3. hmm... weird and you've cleared your cookies entirely and restarted the browser?
  4. hmm... what browser? cuz again, not happening here at home in Firefox :-/
  5. you can never have too many cookies imo.
  6. the error page was by design, it's gone now but not sure on the marking as read, what browser are you using? possibly clear your cookies and log back in, see if that works.
  7. I\'d like to introduce to you, the Via Chicago Archive. http://archive.viachicago.org This will be the new home for any posts/threads older than 30 days on Via Chicago. The Archive is read-only, and just meant for browsing or looking up old info/posts, etc. For the time being, i will only be pruning the current forums that see a lot of daily posts. I will leave the Tribute, Lyrics, etc. forums go for a while longer before i prune those. I ask that you bear with me for a little while with the archive vs. current forum, as the process i came up with is new to me, and i am going to be testing
  8. hmm... i just tried it and it worked. any certain section? or are you doing the one on the main index?
  9. hah, i didn't even think of that, cool
  10. yeah, i've used Sharpreader before, it's a really nice Windows RSS reader
  11. I'd like to announce the deployment of RSS feeds for the Via Chicago Forums. For those of you asking "what the hell is RSS?", well, this page has more info than you'll ever want to know. I recommend Bloglines, a great online RSS reader, personally. For those of you who are already familiar with RSS, the links below are for the corresponding Forum/Section. You can customize the number of posts to display by changing "10" in the "&show=10" portion of the URL to the number you'd like to show (please be courteous though, i'd recommend not doing more than 50). Also, if you'd like to use x
  12. hoping to figure out an easy way to do this here pretty soon
  13. no, that's just it, you will be able to look up ANY post, no matter if it's years back, or not. just it will be on a seperate archive forum, that you cannot post new posts to. this current forum will be the only one that will only have say the last 1-3 months of posts
  14. hmm... i'll try and watch the board over the next few weeks, and see how old the longest of threads stay active. if i could do 1-2 months, that would be wonderful, and make for a much speedier forum
  15. As our membership continues to grow, and the number of posts as well, the larger the database for the forum grows. I'd like to propose an archive forum, which would be read only, and any contain any posts older than say 3-6 months or so. that way the current forum would have a relatively "small" database, and would make the board much more responsive. now what i'm asking you all is, what type of timeframe would you like to see the archive vs. current forum have? i'll suggest my proposal, which is that the current forum is any post from the last 3 months, the archive would be anything fro
  16. yeah, i'll add that to Got Extras? rules, thanks
  17. only if you guys don't put your foot down!!
  18. legit requests/extras ones i can, but not ones about ticket discussion/whining, would like to leave those out of there if at all possible
  19. http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showforum=26 open for bidness no password currently, we'll see how it goes. i wish i could require people have at least a few posts before they are allowed to post in there, but i've not found a way as of yet, so i'll ask that you guys help us police it, but don't be overzealous/too strict about it either
  20. true. maybe we could implement if you've got 10 posts, you can just PM one of the admins for the current password? just throwing out ideas
  21. if someone's first post is a ticket request and/or sale, trust me, they will be watched i could also set a password on that section and mass PM all current users with the password i suppose? would that be worth it or should we just self police and see how it goes?
  22. it exists, but you can't see it yet
