  1. I may have to dodge some tomatoes here, but I didn't like Kingpin until I heard it on the Ashes DVD...

You like it now that is all that matters. My favorite live song they do. I'm a sucker for audience participation :dancing Then again I think Dreamer im My Dreams is one of their best tunes so what do I know? :music

  2. I think you're missing the point. It's not that anyone doesn't think the quality is better; it's that your system is only as good as your weakest link. Should someone with a 19" CRT invest in a BluRay player? No need!

that is for sure true. I know some bands release in both formats (DMB comes to mind-yes much bigger animal but whatever). That would be great. BTW saw you had a 50" in 720 DLP. 56" here-Samsung. I love me some HD :thumbup

  3. From your comments I'd question on whether you even seen that many Blu Ray's? Blu Ray is without a doubt much better quality in both picture and audio than a standard dvd. There has yet to be one Blu Ray reviewed that didn't score higher marks than its DVD counterpart. Every Blu Ray has to be remastered/transferred to 1080p and most have at the least 24bit TruHD audio surround.

Thank you for the rant I'm glad I didn't have to do it. Blu Ray=1080P DVD=480I Even regular broadcast HD is either 1080I or 720P which smokes DVDs. As a matter of fact HD pretty much killed my DVD watching.

  4. Why would they do this?

for the same reason I will sit and watch a HD show just becuase it is in HD. And I am not alone in this. I mean c'mon what is that show called "sunrise" or something like that? I admit to watching it on more than one occassion just becuase it is in HD.

Now that being said I get your point and I highly doubt many will buy a band they had never heard of just becuase it is in Blu Ray but....there are boobs like myself that do have a thing for HD.

  5. love when glenn tosses his drum stick in the air and pat catches it. sweet! i think im just impressed by anything glenn does, really.

Actually I think that was Pat or Mikael. I think it is Pat. He must have been playing some percussion. Still cool (sorry I'm a former drummer and am kinda anal about stuff). :stunned

Bring it-in Blu Ray so I can finally have the excuse I need to buy a Blu Ray player!

  6. Row J, eh? I think I may have been directly in front of you! Wait up?

were you the kind girl who enlightened me to "wait up" since I had not heard it (still learing my U.T.)? And confirmed the new song (not the "Wilco song") if so thanks and sorry for being a pest :-) I like to learn stuff

  7. I say let her read this thread and she what she thinks then. She'll see how respectful you are being of her needs and wants.

This actually may be the best advice (if you can deal with the whole worlds colliding thing).

Look Wilco aint going anywhere. They are going to be a part of your life for what is likely a very long time. You have to do this. And you have to be upfront honest. A key to making a relationship work is asking for what you want and not being afraid to do so. You want to go to this show. It just makes sense you tell her that. Betcha she does it just to make you happy and guess what-probably has a great time too.

  8. DMB and Wilco and the same show. hummmm....I am trying to figure out how I am NOT going to do this. I have seen DMB 28 times since 1995. When Roi died (their saxophonist for those not familiar with the band), I sort of made the decision to move along and close that chapter of my life. Looks like it just re-opened.

  9. Yeah Al, I saw you approach her twice turned to meagan and said "Damn Al!" when you didn't show up until the last song of GLS we figured you joined their table and got the sweet pass. Good to meet you two at RM, We'll see you at the next show! :thumbup

PS if you ever want duck taco's again now you know where to go.

Duck Tacos all around! Great meeting you too! Wilco fans are just a little better aren't we? :thumbup

  10. I requested One By One on wilcoworld, so felt very fortunate to hear that out of the gate.

Thank you very much for that! Couldn't believe he opened the show with it. Thanks for all the other fun memories posted "forgot about the-there's that guy comment" and Spencer messing with him on Hummingbird

  11. It's odd that not that many people grabbing the Jeff solo shows. Wilco shows usually end up with hundreds of seeders/leachers these days.

if this one doesn't surface (it will, there were at least 2 tapers-however that's what I said about the albuquerque show and it still hasn't :ohwell ) I will be seriously bummed. It was one of those shows that blows you away so much that it needs at least 3 listens to absorb it all. Right down to the guy who requested Remember the Mountain Bed, got it, shouted out a thank you whnre it was through and got a you're welcome and thanks for the request from Jeff :D

  12. what a show! Oh what fun! My first Jeff solo. And I can die now-met Jeff at Radio Maria's. Got him right as he sat down (before waitress even got to him). My girlfriend who is a relative Wilco newbie having been introduced to the boys at the Albuquerque show with me last year along with patiently living vicariously through my obsession, looked at me with a paniced look on her face and asked "is that Jeff fucking Tweedy and his family right there?" I tried to play it cool and let him be, but she looks at me and says "Alex go do it-you have to and you have to do it now before they get settled in" She was right.

I walked over apologized saying I never wanted to do this while he was with his family but if I didn't I would hate myself forever. He seemed to "get it" and was wonderfully gracious. He chuckled when I asked for Spencer's autograph as well because I read his blog. Kinda broke the stalker awkwardsness feeling and lightened the mood. Then Jeff said "Sam you should sign it too." Sam signed (very cute). Spencer insited Sue sign but she declined. All in 30-45 seconds but I'm still grinning ear to ear. And as much as I hated bothering him had I not done it, I would have hated myself. Life is about siezing the day. I had just driven 425 miles to see this man who has inspired me so much and there he is. Too cool.

So at the venue (very cool by the way loved how it was at the top of the "quad") before the show, I see Sue and apologized again for interupting them. She was very nice saying something to the effect of it was no bother. Then I said you know my Tweedy autograph collection is incomplete without yours. Spencer lights into her "see mom I told you!" She sheepsihly signed.

Then Muzzle, Remember the Mountain Bed, Radio King, and Fake Plastic Trees were played and my head exploded. I'm still in search if it.

Great crowd who were church mouse quiet during the songs, met some really cool people and had an overall incredible time.

thanks for reading my little experience,

    Alex
