  1. i've only heard that it's an abbreviation for 'will comply' or that it's because they are from Will County

I recall seeing a small company named "Wilco" on Irving Park road (nw side of Chicago) and always hoped Jeff got the name from that.....

silly people do your homework. Wilco is now a chicago band but once upon a time when they started, they were a St. Louis band which has nothing to do with Irving Park or Will County

  2. Honestly I don't see what the complaints are about the weather.

I showed up 45 min to 1 hr before start time and found good seats or good standing places.

if you really really feel the need to get that close to the stage or rush to get the first few rows of the balcony then you gotta suck it up, deal with the weather and not complain about it.

I think the great part about the residency is that it happened during a time (february) when most bands don't tour. There isn't a lot of other thigns going on in Chicago that time of year. It gives you the perfect break from the winter blues and gives you something to look forward to and enjoy.

  3. I have one of the shows on disc ....I believe 2/17/07 (starts with spiders and i'm too lazy to look up the setlist now)

its one of the best shows i have, very pure.

It seems there are several other shows with guests playing with Jeff. I'm assuming these are some of the people who have paid to attend but these ones arent nearly as grand as the pure solo Jeff show.

Still very happy after last night.

  4. What a great night!

Really enjoyed the advance ticket sales aspect of the show this year, especially since I had to work until 6. We were seated in the back row but moved up to the second row after they kicked out the non wristband people.

There is no reason I will ever miss this show.

from what I can remember here is the setlist:

    Wilco the song

    Impossible Germany

    Hummingbird (w/crowd whistling)

    Jesus Etc

? One day Love will find you

Simple Twist of Fate (short butchered and aborted version)

    Hate it Here

    She's a Jar

I've been to this thing two years in a row now and I love it. Audience was extremely respectful and dead silent throughout the perforance. Jeff was his usual verbose and humorous self. Most importantly he raised almost $100,000 by himself.

only bad thing: m just bitter that somebody stole my engagement idea!

  5. I'm amazed by some of these selections.

Less Than You Think......everybody skips the drone part so that doesnt count, but if people are discounting the beginning of the song i'm dumbfounded

Being There...? really? i think its their best album

Radio Cure? " lyrics are poignant enough to overlook the weak music (Leave Me Like You Found Me, Radio Cure)" i actually think there is a lot to radio cure, i love turning up the stereo at the beginning. I think their are a ton of subtle layers here that make this song great

  6. I used to see jeff all the time at tupelo shows (hard to miss when there are 200 or less people there )

I was 16-18 at the time

Saw him 3 years ago at a restaurant in chicago and really at that point I wasnt that into wilco. It was fathers day and he was having breakfast with his family. I hadn't seen him in person in over 10 years so i kept kinda looking over and debating whether it was him or not. He caught me looking once and gave a little nod and an acknowledging smile. I didnt bother him though.

His son's school is on the same block as my girlfriends old place so occasionally i'd see him picking up the kids. I never bothered him though, always felt it was inappropriate.

  7. Ok so using nero i would be able to burn it but..............

anybody know how to break this into two different files?

My DVD holds 82 min, this is 91 min

are there longer DVD's out there? can somebody more savvy than me split this into two files and post them?

  8. Jeff at Lollapalooza -

Has this been discussed yet? Looks like he has a 15 to 30 min timeslot on Friday afternoon on the Children's stage.

Perhaps its just to introduce his son's band?

    Anybody have any insight?
