  1. My husband and I will be there! We were there for another show in June and really enjoyed Memphis, though I'm hoping it gets a little cooler in October! Can't wait to see Wilco rock the Orpheum though, hot or not!!

  2. I have a real good pal who is a HUGE music buff like myself. We agree on 99.9% of all bands, however he cannot get into Wilco. The thing that pains me is he loves bands such as Ryan Adams, Radiohead, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Dead. I would imagine if you were into that combo of bands you would HAVE to at least appreciate some Wilco

At least according to Pandora. This is a pretty typical run of artists if you put Wilco on Pandora!

  3. I've converted three people so far...my husband, by dragging him to a show. He's been in love with them (and hopefully me) ever since. My best friend- I made her a playlist on itunes, threw in a few of my faves from AM all the way up to SBS, plus some from Sunken Treasure and Mermaid. The last person, I just got lazy with and there was some distance between us and, well, I wasn't going to mail him a mixed tape so I told him to plug in Wilco on Pandora. The beauty of that was that he was able to experience not only Wilco, but some other tunes and artists he was already familiar with. This way, for someone who had never heard of Wilco he was able to put a better label on exactly who they are, what they do, and where they fit in. As far as I know, all three of my converts are still loving Wilco.

ETA** And I'm working on my parents, as I'm going with them to Farm Aid next weekend. I figure, they fostered a pretty well rounded musical environment for me to grow up in (my first cassette tape at age 8 was Born in the USA) so I should return the favor and turn them onto Wilco before they're too old to appreciate it!

  4. I know this thread should just be over. But. I just hopped on the Pearl Jam fan board....(pause for groaning and scoffing) and found this tasty little thread. And how funny, it reminded me very much of the origins of this thread and I thought I would just share it, because, well...I guess this kind of stuff happens everywhere. And btw, I thought both threads- this one and the PJ one- were pretty damn funny! Oh, and one last point of clarification- I am NOT trying to stir the PJ shit!! Or this shit...Or any other shit.

Jesus Fu*king christ people...way to be optimistic. Im done.

    and end quote....

  5. These kind of posts have to be fun to stumble on a couple of days after they get started. The piss really gets taken out of nasty posters around here.

I don't know. Really, I just thought it was funny that he quoted a line from another thread. Just trying to bring it all full circle and make life fun again. Epic fail I guess.

    The other thread....

    http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/41572-i-surely-hope-jeff-doesnt-read-this-board/page__st__20

  6. I don't think BW is being mean or hateful either. It's just a pretty asinine topic and I regretted that I even opened it. It just seems if he is really so bored with Wilco then maybe BW should check out some other music and their fan forums. Just sayin' is all ;)

  7. um. If time travel were possible, I would travel back exactly two minutes and thirty two seconds and choose NOT to read this thread. I know...no one made me do it but it was kind of like a really grisly train wreck right from the very first post and I couldn't stop looking even though I wanted to. Just wondering, if Wilco is boring, why are you here on a WILCO FAN board preaching the gospel of just how boring this band is? Why aren't you out looking for new, exciting music? I hear Third Eye Blind has a pretty exciting new album out...

  8. I don't know...it's definitely no YHFT or ST, creatively speaking but for me, there's definitely still an element of creativity there. It just seems to represent a different perspective than the other albums, and really, I think thats good. it's a keeper for me. I listen to it often but unlike the other two I mentioned, it has to come out of the cd player after a couple of complete rotations and there's definitely a couple of songs I skip frequently...You Never Know comes to mind.

  9. I am going to put Liam Finn name up for a posssible opener. Liam has just finished touring with Eddie Vedder and is getting ready to announce another major support. Liam has also involved with the 7 Worlds II project earlier this year

I fully and wholeheartedly second this thought!!I saw him with Eliza Jane Barnes opening for EV. Together, they are amazing!!

ETA...so, got ahead of myself in the excitement of the mention of Liam Finn. Once I read the whole thread and saw that he is, in fact, confirmed to open for the two shows that I'm going to- well, I screamed like a twelve year old girl at Jonas Bro's concert. I'm happy!!

  10. Heading to Memphis!! Couldn't be more excited. Just saw Eddie Vedder in the Orpheum in June and am in love with this theater. I have no doubt that Wilco will sound amazing there!!

  11. I knew it was only a matter of time before my five-year-old daughter learned what a "zombie" is. I just didn't think she would learn it this week from a Michael Jackson video.

I learned about Zombies from a Michael Jackson video when I was five years old ;) I'm doing ok...!

  12. Sweet! Now we just need a Via Chicago app :) That way, us iphone talking, VW driving Wilco lovers can be the most dangerous people on the road in our 5 star safety rated cars...!
