Jeff Mangum definitely does not fit this list. He did not have a nervous breakdown or other mental collapse, he has not been in hiding, and from all accounts he is enjoying the life he is leading. Check out this interview of Robert Schneider (friend of Mangum, engineer and studio guru for NMN, and now leader of Apples in Stereo) on the Sound Opinions radio show. You meant no harm I am sure, but if people who love your work have some need for you to be a basketcase then I can see why Mangum chose the path he did. By the way is an amazing clip of Mangum at a recent Elephant 6 stop

For what it's worth, the Interpol folks always struck me as quite well-dressed:

Just finished reading Stephen King's From a Buick 8. At the end of the novel, King describes one of the central characters as he rides away in his car, blasting music. As it turns out, the fellow was blaring...Wilco and the Jayhawks Don't know if King is a fan or if he just thought Wilco was the kind of music the character would listen to, but I smiled at the mention of our boys. EDIT: King lists SBS as his #2 record of 2007: "No audio tricks and/or experimentation this time, only a set of gorgeously simple tunes and class-A writing. Jeff Tweedy has never been sweeter, more c

This is all very interesting, but I think we are losing sight of something crucial... Wilco, specifically the song "Walken," has been blatantly plagiarized by... Lil'Wayne. Evidence? Lil'Wayne song = "Walk In" (a sly palgiaristic move that) But, even more damning, the following lyrics (which are nearly identical to the meaning of "walken," imo): Handlin streets in the mandarin V I hear you haters slanderin me I just hand him the P Any drama I pace it like Indiana, I take your grandma pacemaker and jus handle the piece Not two fingers I simultaneously bout two bangers You do not

Songs you want played at your funeral
Boomookazoo replied to radiokills's topic in Someone Else's Song
I remember first hearing this, and being astounded... And where do you look for this hope that yer seekin' Where do you look for this lamp that's a-burnin' Where do you look for this oil well gushin' Where do you look for this candle that's glowin' Where do you look for this hope that you know is there And out there somewhere And your feet can only walk down two kinds of roads Your eyes can only look through two kinds of windows Your nose can only smell two kinds of hallways You can touch and twist And turn two kinds of doorknobs You can either go to the church of your choice Or you can go -

Dear Wilco HQ I know there were some (though not many) grumbles last night in this thread regarding the lack of live webcasts from STL. I just want to thank you guys and gals for trying your best and for doing things that I cannot imagine most other acts would do for their fans. Thanks!

Apology accepted I only meant to provide some audio to accompany my comment regarding Spiders/Neu! No ulterior motives, I promise. How's this: "Seeqpod suxs! Never use Seeqpod! Seeqpod is sponsored by the RNC (and they called Wilco, gasp, "dad-rock")!" etc.? If I had more technical know-how, I would have FLAC-ed a snippet of the thing for download. As an aside, my wife and I were just in a certain steakhouse (I won't mention the name, to avoid advertising the joint ) when, nuzzled in between the generic pop-country background music I heard..."How to Fight Loneliness." My wife

Hi all! I am new to the forums as a participant, though I've been eavesdropping for quite some time. I was playing with the wonderful Seeqpod and ran across this track from Neu!: Link to seeqpod playlist Wonderful stuff, and the influence on Spiders is evident (though they have never hidden that fact). In any case, I've enjoyed the forum's discussions immensely, and you all have turned me on to so much wonderful music. Thanks! Boomoo
