They have totally nailed this Mtn. Bed -- Glen's percussion/drum work is amazing.
-
Indeed it is...no glitches yet.
-
It's almost always this way - the webcast either fails miserably from the start or cuts out multiple times during the show - hope they work the kinks out within the hour...
-
Great shots! Love your magazine as well...

chrisvt...
Thanks for the up of the Higher Ground show. Downloading now. Sorry to hear about the cell interference, but glad someone has a good source. Thanks again for getting this up and to all the tapers who make it possible for us to enjoy these shows for a long time after they're over...
Cheers.

Another great night last night - not quite as good as Burlington in my view - but I am NOT complaining. I was in the second row which was a real treat in the beautiful Calvin Theatre. It was very cool to be able to really watch Jeff's playing and performance from such close range. The Dreamer in my Dreams and Acuff Rose sans the PA was amazing from my spot in Row BB/Seat 112!
Highlights for me:
Someday, Some Morning, Sometime (sung beautifully)
Wait Up (terrific guitar work)
Fake Plastic Trees (after watching the YouTube versions from NZ with the Seven Worlds Collide band - this was something I wanted to see. Gorgeous version)
Wilco the Song (this tune is totally going to kick ass when the full band starts playing it this spring and summer)
Two other bits banter not mentioned above:
He announced to the crowd that TMM Management - Wilco's long time management co. - was moving its home base to Northampton on Main St. Jeff invited everybody stop by "and bring your demo tapes." He said, "Just stop in. Tony's a nice guy - not too intense."
After he came out for his third encore he noted that Ed O'Brien and Phil Selway asked him to play and sing Fake Plastic Trees while they were all in NZ together for the SWC sessions. Then he mumbled, "not really, I begged them to play it with me." Here's hoping for some Wilco/Radiohead shows some time in the future...
Anyway, this has been a nice two day respite from reality. Thanks to Jeff and crew for coming our way.

Agree bbop... a very, very fun show!
Jeff was clearly enjoying himself and the Burlington crowd was clearly happy to have him here. For a "bar" show - I thought the crowd was pretty well behaved.
Great set list! He really mixed it up and he sounded terrific from start to finish. Highlights for me:
Remember the Mountain Bed - (achingly beautiful last night)
I Wanna Be Your Dog - (first time for me, what a great version he does)
One By One - (simply gorgeous)
Muzzle of Bees - (so well played and sung)
Loved both Hummingbird and Theologians with Michael - but as stated above - a little bit loose... If you are going to NoHo tonight - get in early and see Pronto, I thought they sounded really good.
The Someone Else's Song and Acuff Rose sans the PA were terrific. It worked really well in the space. Also, great banter all evening.
Off to NoHo later today! Thanks to Jeff and crew for making our little "city" on the lake a stop on this mini tour.

Looking for one extra Tweedy ticket for the Burlington show - a friend is making the trip to Burlington from DC and wants in!
Thanks.

Gotta say I was really impressed with Ryan and The Cards on this night. I thought the sound was considerably better for Ryan than it was last year for Wilco. Great song selection - I See Monsters, Goodnight Rose, Bartering Lines, and My Sweet Carolina were all exceptional. Bartering Lines is an amazing song! This band just keeps getting better. Ryan's voice was a strong as I have ever heard it, and Neal is a wonderful guitar player - understated and beautiful. The band truly seems to be enjoying themselves, and Ryan is much better at ignoring and not getting bent out of shape by the "talkers" than he used to be. All in all - a great evening. Also, New Haven is way more fun on a Friday night than a Sunday night - although I really enjoyed Wilco's show last year - New Haven was totally dead after the chow was over.

Got in at 10:15 or so for The Calvin -- pulled 2 seats Row BB -- very stoked.
Took longer to get into Higher Ground, but pulled three at 10:20 or so.
Keep trying until they say "SOLD OUT!"

For those of you thinking about making the trip to beautiful Burlington, VT -- I strongly encourage you to do so! Our little "city" is one of the great spots on the map. If you saw Wilco the last time they played Higher Ground (1999) you are in for a real treat. The old Higher Ground was a total shit hole and is now long gone. The new venue is four years old and is set in renovated old movie theatre that ownners gutted and transformed into a terrific 900 person club. The venue is comfortable, the sound is outstanding, and the sight lines are great. The club has two bars so lines move quick. Our local brewers offer some of the best beer and ale in the country -- try a Switchback Ale.
Higher Ground may make this seated show -- this has happened for acoustic shows in the past. However the seats will be first come, first serve. Anyway, this is a very small venue to see Jeff. This show will feel very close and personal.
So - come to Burlington, then make the 3 hour drive to Northampton for the show at The Calvin the next day. That's what I am gonna do...

Thanks for posting these new clips -- really enjoyed them.
Cheers

So, here is my take on Wilco's set... This was my first time seeing the band in an arena -- I was not impressed at all. Their sound was hollow and I just didn't feel that they were able to "fill the room." I have seen the band at Merriweather and NOLA's Voodoo Festival where they did "fill the room" and clearly demonstrated the ability to make a large space feel small. Last night -- they weren't even close. Their energy level seemed high and they all appeared to be having fun (GA on the floor for this tour is great!), but the songs were flat they just looked small. This became even more apparent when Neil and his band took the stage and blew the doors off the place for two and half hours. The juxtaposition was staggering. Anyway, this is just one man's view from forty feet back on the floor, but they just did not bring it and/or they are not ready to play big arena shows. I think there is some truth in both...

Thanks much...
Problem solved!
Cheers.

I am still not getting patched through to the server... hmmm...
Frustrating. I was at this show and am really looking forward to hearing a high quality recording of this show.
