  1. Every little thing

    Every little thing

    Every little thing

    Is gonna tear you apart

    cheers.gif

I saw you causing trouble sunday, dancing, laughing, singing, drinking beer....having a good time. Not allowed @ a Wilco show 2009 sonrealmad.gif Stand @ attention and shut yer mouth.

Were you w/ the boys in KS when that one dude told them not to dance?

  2. Lance, some Wilco fans suck just as much as some people on VC, but not all of them. Cool people to be found here as well as @ shows....so don't lose focus, it's all about the music. Every crowd is as different as the venues.

  3. Can we change the subject for a moment to something more positive??

These shows brought a number of fans to Chicago for the first (or maybe repeat) time. If you have new suggestions on places to stay, eat, drink, expore, etc., please post it in the thread I started a few years back. Folks were telling me about restaurants and places to stay that have not been mentioned before. (For example bbop mentioned a great breakfast place on Taylor St and I have already forgotten the name..!!)

    Thanks.

"can you see the real me..???"

my first time in Chicagomusic.gif ....just for Wilco. I didn't eat, drink, sleep, or go potty for 3 days. I didn't wanna miss anything.

  4. Please can I use the bathroom?

wear diapers..real Wilco fans do. yes.gif

Kidsmoke, you gotta admit the Crossroads was way over booked & much too close for comfort. Really pissed me off. I had to fight off ninja drunks to get back to my spot during that show...even after they saw me go by once or twice. I had to pee pee for like the last hour & it really hurtermm.gif ...I always let pee pee/beer runs back in their space, but not cutters.

  5. What i said said was I dont like when people push their way to the front. last night we simply walked through the crowd and settled in a spot where no one was standing. Yes it was close quarters but what do you expect at a GA show? by no means did we impose on anyone's personal space. And I'm sorry but just because one VCer decides to post a list of concert etiquette rules (which is totally lame btw) doesnt mean I care if some people decided to wait outside for 8 hours. I wasnt trying to be disrespectful last night, and I am not now. But in a crowded room full of concert-goers, its gonna be crowded regardless, thats why everyone had the option to buy seats.

right on...nobody owns a spot @ a show unless their ass is parked there @ all times. Doesn't sound as though you were an ass so I wouldn't worry about it.

  6. GA means elbow to elbow in small venues..but this venue was roomey. I hung back by the sound board because I got there late...& never busted myself closer to the front, that's way rude. Most shows I get there when the doors open and earn a spot. I always get a jist eye's view of who gets in at what time & who their friend's are, that way I don't take their spot when they leave for the b-room or ale run, not moving my tooshie into open pockets unless people leave....like the non-Wilco fan that leaves right before an encore.

With that said, it sounds like there was still lots of room for you and your g-friend & that you were not being rude. Sounds like some people were just jerks. There is NO such thing as a #1 Wilco fan & you're fooling yourself if you think you are more of a fan because you stand in line for 4 hours to get a good spot...but respect the 1st few rows because those fans most likely got there 1st. Sometimes I'm in row 1 sometimes row 20...but I do understand how it feels to have some jerk get there late and try & knock you out of your space. Number 1 reason I always eat a burrito before the show. I can clear a space out fastyucky.gif

  7. Monday was most certainly better in attendance or on paper. I do like to think Sunday's set flowed a bit better, but of course you don't have to deal with repeats on the 1st night. I'd agree with the comment that the band varied things up just enough with some really nice surprises... loved all the talk about "this is the newest single off our latest release" and then he pulls out the AM vinyl. Before "Nothingsever.." he also made a quick blurb, this single is off our release from a couple weeks back... good stuff. Pat was MVP for me N2. 5th and last show for me in 2009, and where it's always gonna be tough to top the Red Rocks show on my personal list, last nights set did certainly did not disappoint at all and was almost skeptical that it might going in fearful of too many repeats and with the way things started out. Some good home cookin from the fellas though, and more than enough to tide me over until Madison.

Red Rocks was an awesome venue! Six shows this year, this one was my last for the year...gonna miss themohwell.gif

Have to say the best setlist this year and overall vibe of the band was 2 weeks ago @ IMU Main Lounge in Iowa City...although the venue sucked, only H2O sold and it was 200 degrees in there. I actually liked the venue in sun night in Chicago, it was roomey, sound was good, and it was a snap to use the b-room and grab an ale (8.50 a beer was BS though). I could care less about the set list...I just like to see them live, even the songs I could care less about. JT could hum for 3 hours & I'd sit there happy.

  8. Just can't give your own thoughts on Wilco on this board w/out somone being a dick hole...number one reason I rarely visit VC.

I agree on doing a few great covers live once in awhile. They did "Don't Fear The Reaper" (one of the best songs ever) during a soundcheck in KC & it was awesome. Of course it was thru a cell phone my friend held up to soundcheck, but still cool. I would love to hear a random cover from great bands at the live shows once in awhile..most great bands cover classics at some point.

  9. I watched Farm Aid last weekend and then read the reviews of the Memphis show and it seems Jeff may be getting tired of some of the absurdities of the road (whether it is following Gretchen Wilson or dealing with drunk/annoying fans). My dream scenario is that the entire band becomes disenchanted with the never ending tour, shuts it down, and labors in the studio for a few years. I mean cmon, I imagine the majority of us on here have seen wilco live close to 10 times. I think I've seen them on every tour except the current one. I will always go see Wilco if given the chance, but we all know it is getting a little predictable, losing its edge and the studio albums (at least the last one) seems like a collection of songs instead of a statement. This is my little dream for my favorite band.

I was @ Farm Aid @ don't think he was annoyed by following Redneck Woman...maybe he felt some of the newbies and lesser known bands should have gone before him, but who knows. They seemed to have a blast on stage. What pissed me off is that there was very few Wilco fans there. We sat close and I felt like we were the only fans...that, and the paper the next day hardly mentioned them. No flyers around town about it..nothing. But hell, even Jeff knows the majority of Farm Aid is going to like redneck singers more than Wilco.

    I am not a redneck.

  10. Yep. Methinks it's also what energizes many of us fans. It's also where the band makes most of their income, no?

I agree, I'm hot for Wilco more than usual, wet panties and all, cause I'm lucky enough to have seen them 3 times last week...and will see them once this coming weekend in Chicago. They most likely will remain my fav band if they continue to rock and make it easy to see them in small venues. So, don't tell anyone you know about Wilco....

  11. WTF Obama??? Why fight for health care & then fuck up our food supply even more! I support Obama but this is bullshit!

Now, the Obama Administration is putting two notorious biotech bullies in charge of food safety! Former Monsanto lobbyist Michael Taylor has been appointed as a senior advisor to the Food and Drug Administration Commissioner on food safety. And, rBGH-using dairy farmer and Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Dennis Wolff is rumored to be President Obama's choice for Under-Secretary of Agriculture for Food Safety. Wolfe spearheaded anti-consumer legislation in Pennsylvania that would have taken away the rights of consumers to know whether their milk and dairy products were contaminated with Monsanto's (now Eli Lilly's) genetically engineered Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH).

  12. Relax. I'm happy the band was happy. The crowd was happy. Who does'nt want to be happy? It was a great night. Perhaps my comments were better suited for another thread. I enjoy edgier concerts in smaller venues with a more attentive crowd (Tweedy at the Gothic comes to mind.) Perhaps that's selfish on my part. The band is in a good spot, Tweedy is healthy and happy. I think that shows in there new music and songs, for better or worse. I prefer the tortured artist. Complexity in the music has nothing to do with it to me. Again, probably needs another thread.

Red Rocks allows just a litte more of the smoke to flow than indoor venues so I guess you will get a less attentive crowd here & there. Everyone around us behind sound was singing & dancing to every single song. Nobody sat down.I was surprised how many people I saw on my beer runs that were off in corners porking & not watching the show??? I would say @ least a 100 or so people were just hanging out in the trees & were not aware the most awesomest band on earth was playing. I will never get that. But what a place to hang out though!

  13. I can understand wanting more complex music, perhaps as a result of personal turmoil, but how can you say you'd rather the band members be unhappy than to put on a show they enjoy doing?

I mean, just from a humanitarian standpoint, that's fucked up.

great point. I have seen shows where bands were so pissed off at whatever that I left feeling their shit. I don't need shiny happy people holding hands on stage but it's good to see ones healthy spirit flow thru their music. It's good to see a band play without being fucked up. It's awesome to see a WIlco that doe not want to leave the stage. I'm glad to witness the growth. I get to grow old with Wilco. Some of my favorites like Dylan I only got to experience when they were old.

  14. I'll never understand this.

    we know Jules yay.gif

for me the energy from the band & crowd I felt @ this show compared to other shows is a sense of never wanting to leave & wanting to be together. The band was exchanging so much love to one another & to the crowd. The crowd also seemed the same ( and a little more high).I chalk some of it up to the mountain air & blanket of stars. I have never had so much room to roam during a show or seen the band have so much room on stage. I also like how JT seems at peace in his world & how it flows thru the band. I connect more and more to who JT is now because we both are happily married with awesome kids. I'm not angry youngster anymore so I like seeing bands who speak from my heart not only as it was but as it is now.

    I'm happy Wilco is happy.

  15. i wish kc lawrence or columbia had better venues meself.crossroads is pretty small but last time wilco played there i had a blast and it wasnt to crowded.

Crossroads is a huge venue I think. It didn't feel too crowded at all except to use the porty potties. How lucky are the people who watched the show from their loft roof. It was a great show! The fireworks going off for what's his name playing @ the Sprint Center were an added bonus. That's a good venue! I din't dig Columbia because it was on the street & very bright & hard to see. I agree we need better venues this way. I think the Uptown in KC would be awesome.
