  1. I've met a few VCers the past four years at shows around the NYC and New England area. All nice folks. Wouldn't mind meeting "old man Louie" some day. We probably have a lot more in common that not despite our differing views on the 2012 election.

  2. If they could cut it to three minutes and stick it in the middle of two other songs as you mentioned I could deal with it being played in concert. It is way too long and takes up too much concert time for my taste for a song that is so repetitive and kind of boring after that three minute mark. I know people love it but I don't really get the same thrill on this one.

  3. On the other hand I kinda figure you are a regular guy with a family who is simply working a regular square job and just a bit bored. As I have said before I don't believe in all these conspiricies because basically everyone's agenda is pretty open. We live in an intense capitalist, consumer society controlled by the same old powers that be that have controlled shit for decades, centuries, millenia perhaps.

Fed up and disillusioned, not bored. Posting here is so exciting. Agree on the same old powers http://www.globalres...eight-families/ They are still there and more powerful than ever.

We are far from being intensely capitalistic. If you mean fascistic I might agree with you there. We pretty much have an economic system in which certain business interests have control of the political machinery. In other words corporatism. Under corporatism, most wealth and power is concentrated in the hands of giant corporations as I know you are aware. Government is nothing but a tool to be used by these corporations to consolidate their wealth and power even further. The wealth and power of individuals and small businesses is crushed by the overwhelming economic might of the corporations. Eventually, the corporations end up owning almost everything and they end up dominating nearly every aspect of society. That is not capitalism IMO. Actually, it is pretty similar to socialism and fascism. It is a collectivist economic system which is not very tolerant of others' economic rights or open to competition in a free market. These corporations dominate the media, the financial system as well as the political system. There is nothing egalitarian about them. So don't expect our leaders to be. That is not what they are being paid to do. Look how they marginalized Ron Paul who threatened this system. At least they didn't kill him. They make the rules and those rules favor no one but them. I agree that their agenda is pretty open. It is obvious to me and I'm pretty dumb. They don't bother to hide what they are doing nowadays. It is an open conspiracy of thieves and crooks. Our government leaders allow them to rape and pillage without any recourse or consequence. Are any of the bankers from Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo that helped bring on our current economic catastrophe going to jail? Of course not. They make the rules. They pay for both campaigns. They control the judicial system. The difference is now these powerful corporations are global and practically beyond any nations control. The game has changed and is rigged in their favor in a dangerous new way. I frankly don't have an answer as to what to do about it. Ranting makes me feel better. What other option is there? I have to blow off steam somehow. But giving my stamp of approval to it by voting for any of the current crop of corporate puppets is not going to happen let alone me giving money to one of them. If doing that makes any of you feel you are actually going to see some benefit come as a result, don't let me stop you. It's your money. I'd rather buy a few ozs of silver.

From Louie's and my old drinking buddy Thomas Jefferson....

“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”

Do you think he knew what he was talking about?

will this and the next two job numbers have any effect on the race?

Romney the job destroyer while at Bain and Obama the job destroyer as president sure have their work cut out for them. There are still a few people working... :D

Record 88,921,000 Americans ‘Not in Labor Force’—119,000 Fewer Employed in August Than July

  5. The Federal Reserve is as federal as Federal Express. It is a private banking cartel that is answerable to no one. And that is the fault of both political parties who have failed to exercise their constitutional duties of over-site as well as surrendering their power to run our monetary system. Long live the IRS. Stealing the fruits of American labor through direct taxation, which is prohibited under the Constitution, for the last 100 years. Look, you don't have top agree with every argument made in the introduction, but facts are facts. They are both leading us down the same path and we give legitimacy to their actions by voting for either of these two assholes. Political rhetoric is just that. Both of these conventions are political dog and pony shows designed to make you think there is a real choice. In the end, who ever wins will continue the same policies of printing money, uncontrolled spending, growing debt, destruction of the dollar, war, high taxes, exportation of jobs overseas, the destruction of the middle class, more in poverty and on food stamps, and the continued attack on our civil liberties and the free enterprise system. Let me know how things turn out by the next election. Nothing is going to change without a massive realization by the American people of the gigantic con that is being perpetuated on us all.

  6. Neil Young and the stray Gators, Time Fades Away tour, the New Haven Coliseum, Jan. 25, 1973. A day or two after Tricky Dick announced the agreement to end US involvement in Vietnam War and the night Jean Dixon predicted the Coliseum would collapse. No better way to die as I recall my thinking at the time. Have a self made bootleg of this show on a cassette somewhere in a box in the basement. Great show. I remember an encore featuring a blistering Southern Man and a bouncy Are You Ready for the Country? My first concert was supposed to be Badfinger at the Shakespeare Theater in Stratford, CT in Feb. of 72, but there was a blizzard that day and the show was cancelled. Second show was the Allman Brothers at the Coliseum in March of 73. I remember the Beach boys in there somewhere as well. Photo from the Neil Young show in New Haven...
