Ya never know. Zak is fantastic, as in Dhani, but I think I'd prefer Julian to Sean haha
edit: Now that I've actually thought about it, probably not the greatest idea

'60s or '70s definitely. Not sure I could pick one

Bruce Springsteen

^ that's fantastic. I think he has some great singing days despite his throat cancer. This for example:
Obviously of all the people that could get cancer of the vocal chords it'd be fuckin' Levon Helm

I hadn't heard a single song of hers until I was asked to play Rolling In the Deep in a band last fall. Listened to a bunch of her stuff over the last few months and honestly did not really enjoy it that much at all. She has a good voice, but the music itself just strikes me as not that strong or memorable.
This is definitely a surprise to me.

Well at least he's still playing. Doing what he loves to do because he loves to do it (and needs the money but thats beside the point)
-
Nice. Did Levon sing at all? I know he has on days and off days when it comes to his voice these days (I saw him on a very off day last year)

Thanks for the tip. I saw the drones thread and was on the fence about signing up, but I did a few days ago.
I'll see what I can do about the pre-show!

^ yeah, I've been checking TM fairly regularly as well as CL and backstreets.com.
I'm not really worried. I've bought plenty day of tickets but my brother is starting to freak out a little haha
-
ah, nice. Well if you want to go to a full show there are still some decent seats on TM for tomorrow
Edit: Van Halen and Kool and the Gang tonight!
-
^ I guess I should have phrased that differently. I'm still looking for relatively ok seats that won't cost me an arm and a leg haha. I've bought my fair share of tickets off of craigslist, but the secondary market on these is ridiculous

-
^ very nice! How was it? I couldn't get a reasonable ticket for last night so I bought one for tomorrow in Manchester

HI I am Paying attention..and those attending the Concert on the 26th In Boston will get our 1st chance to gaze upon the New Band Look & Hear the Sound Live.
Im hearing and seeing great things on youtube from Bruce at the Apollo last night esp My land in Ruins and the new tune shaky ground
I'm still looking for tickets to the Boston show

I'm not 100% sure about Wilco, but I've gotten setlists from a wide variety of bands (and had them signed too!) They're probably my favorite concert memorabilia that you don't have to pay for (other than recordings). Usually band members will either hand them out or crumple them up and throw them into the crowd. The rest you can usually get from techs as they pack up. The bigger the show the harder to get one though.
I always have the most luck getting them from the sound/lighting world. I'm sure if you ask pre-show they'll save it for you!

Van Halen 3/13
Springsteen 3/26
Levon Helm (either 3/30 or 4/20)
Umphrey's McGee's sUMmer School at the Full Moon Resort
Umphrey's @ Red Rocks
and thats it for now. It's a relatively slow winter/spring as far as shows go

^ I wasn't trying to be a dick or condescending, so sorry if it came out that way. I've been re-noticing his rhythm guitar work recently, so that was more a statement of amazement than explanation. Just appreciating a truly incredible musician!
-
He covered The Beatles well too. I'll Be Back, Something, I Me Mine...
Yeah, I have a good deal of shows, so I think I have all those covers, but covering a Beatles song and writing guitar parts like that are two completely different entities. He really had the sound down. Right down to the tone
-
I'm seeing Donald Fagen next weekend. He's playing in Levon Helm's midnight ramble. Very psyched.
That's gonna be awesome. You're very lucky!
I saw the Dan three times last year, and all of them were fantastic (all my recordings are on the Traders Den if anybody is interested.) I've been loving the title track off of the Royal Scam recently. Such a damn good groove

I wasn't fortunate enough to be a fan of his music while he was alive, but in the past 5ish years he has become one of my all time favorites. I was just listening to Figure 8 yesterday and thinking about how some of the guitar parts were just so incredibly genius. The chorus of LA for example. The electric guitars are so awesomely Beatles-esq

Oh yeah? I guess I've never really listened to his guitar playing. I'm just not a fan of his voice.
huh?
