  1. My favorite of the early records is Beatles for Sale, an odd choice to some, but a record I stand by after spending a lot of time with it.

I've come to seriously love Beatles For Sale. Easily my favorite of the early period (and my current overall favorite). It almost seems as if they were just discovering certain aspects of harmony, particularly vocal harmony. So much parallel motion (and parallel perfect motion at that) that is such a departure from their usual vocal harmonies up to that point. I love it

  2. Sorry to bump this long gone thread, but I'm curious if anybody has a good rip of the stream of this show that was up in the roadcase section long before they started selling "roadcase" shows.  I did a rip of it all those years ago, but listening back recently I realized that there's quite a bit of clipping throughout and it's quite distracting.  Hoping somebody might be willing to share their copy :D

  3. It just seems like an odd pick to me.

Why?  (just out of curiosity).  I instantly thought "that is 100% the perfect Led Zeppelin song for them to play," and know others who thought the same.  Chris and Stone in particular are big Zep nerds, so I'm sure it was just a matter of what songs they really wanted to do

  4. I can tell they practiced. It just seems odd to me they would pick that song. They should do Hey Hey What Can I Do.

Just can't let this go by.  ALS was awesome. Perfect song for them to cover and they did a fantastic job.  Stone and Mike really nailed the guitarmonies and Jeff got that 12 string bass gallop down very well.  Went to Philly 2 and MSG and had a great time at both

  5. Thanks, tapers. How are you getting your gear through the door? I've heard it's not allowed and one security guy at the door told me no recording equipment allowed. Just wondering what the magic words are if I should try.

No magic words necessary. I had no issues whatsoever at the door. Moreso inside when every usher that walked past said "I don't think you're supposed to do that". If you're trying to tape a band like wilco and get hassled at the door, be persistent. Tell them the band allows it and notifies the venue and that anybody on their crew will be able to confirm

  6. thanks for posting the Impossible Germany and as crazy good as that solo was it was only one of 6 or 7 that were completely over the top last night.  hope they roadcase this one but I know the beacon has union issues$$$ which usually prevent bands from selling their shows  after the fact

That is what Stan told me last night. Possibly releasing one show from this run.  Most of these bands release shows from the Beacon with no trouble (ABB, Mule, Umphrey's)
