  1. Monday and Outta Mind (Outta Site) played as part of the encore as well.

I can't match your write-ups but a few funny things happened.  After they played I Am My Mother, Jeff commented that it was a waltz and he's never seen the effect of it making so many people sit down at the same time before.  Said he's never playing that song again (jokingly?).  Also, towards the end of the show Jeff singled out a couple in the audience.  Said he was not going to look directly at them but then went on a funny rant that the way they were acting during the show made it seem like a commercial for Blue Chews.  After much laughter, someone in the band amusingly asked, rhetorically, what are Blue Chews?  Jeff clarified specifically that it was basically  Viagra , so you can imagine that the couple must have been full on for him to notice

I also loved the Grateful Deadesque rearrangement of Everyone Hides.  Was super cool.

thought the show was awesome overall.  Sold out crowd and despite having seats at the Saenger Theater, the crowd was on its feet the whole night (except as noted above).  Great energy from the band and crowd.  One last note.  I've seen many many shows in New Orleans and Jeff usually points out John's Mandeville (or Covington??) roots and then he plays It's Just That Simple, but not tonight.  Out.

  2. Pulled from Reddit, which pulled from Substack.

    New Jeff solo album!

For those who missed it, Jeff wrote on the Substack today, "Later this winter, I'm going to make a record with Spencer and Sammy and the Tweedy band. A solo record. I've been working on material for that..."

And then he shared a first draft of a tune, called "New Orleans,  but admitted it might change completely and might not be on the solo album at all. The tune itself is a very pretty one, super mellow, with lyrics including, "I'd trade all four limbs for a parade in New Orleans..." I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops!

  3. Not so long ago (October 2022) they played two shows  in New Orleans and only repeated one song. It was awesome.

Lots of songs they don't play much anymore:

    Opened w/ Misunderstood

    Far, Far Away

    Cry All Day

At Least That's What You Said

    Sunken Treasure

    Whole Love

    Born Alone

    Via Chicago

    Second night gems:

    A Shot in the Arm

    Kamera

    Random Name Generator

    Poor Places into......

    Reservations

    Everyone Hides

    Hummingbird

    Forget the Flowers

    Theologians

I'm The Man Who Loves You

The only track I'm not googley-eyed over is Ten Dead. It's *fine* but didn't make me say "yeah buddy!" after it was over. Granted, I've only listened to the record 4 times so far.

Musically I really like this song but lyrically, it's kind of too current eventy (not a word I know) for my tastes.

  5. What is the deal with these ticket sales?  Got online early and was first in the queue to purchase tickets for 10/5 in NOLA.  There were four "official platinum" seats available for $595 (lol) and floor seats (standing room).  Not one other seat in the entire venue was on sale.  That is ridiculous.

  6. Just got floor seats for both NOLA shows.  I was in the Queue early for both pre-sales and nothing but floor available.  $50 a pop, which is very reasonable so if I can score seats later, I will just try to sell the floor seats at face value.

  7. It's official!  Wilco hates New Orleans.  I believe they have played every city in the south, on the west coast, east coast, gulf coast, and interior of the country.

  8. Fan here. I'll take any cut from The Whole Love any day. And I'll even applaud them knocking an AM song of their setlist to do it.

But that's not the point. This is just an example of how- as with the "fans would rather hear their old songs" idea- it all depends on who you talk to. How many times has someone on here griped about the inevitability of a Jesus Etc performance only to be rebuked by someone who says they've seen them a dozen times and is happy to hear it on any night?

Wilco can't be a nostalgia act because their music, their influences and their fan base are a messy democratic, eclectic thing. They did a tour de force album (Whole Love), a sonically playful rockin album (Star Wars) and a sonically playful folk album (Schmilco). All in a row. And I have yet to sense any consensus between fan reactions, or the band's setlists to show that any of these 3 distinct artistic explorations were more valid, or fruitful.

Most importantly Jeff Tweedy is incapable of being in a nostalgia act. All he ever talks about is his musical curiosity and his insatiable appetite to create new stuff.

    That's a damn good analysis..........

  9. I don't have any insight into this specific situation, but it's probably a combination of venue availability in NO and surrounding cities.  There may be plenty of available venues in NO on the date they'd be there, but that could throw off their ability to book venues in nearby cities.  Tour booking is fraught with compromises, juggling, and domino effects.  I'm sure Wilco is not intentionally giving NO the shaft.

I think Wilco is skipping New Orleans because they need another southern city to hit when they get to Florida. Wilco have always toured like that. They’re hitting the road for a month in October and skipping some cities in those regions, but they’ll get to them on the next trek.

    Good points........thanks
