  1. as a conservative I wouldnt have bailed out anyone .... so on that level maybe I agree with some of the protesters ....there needed to be conseqences as far as the banks, auto industry, individuals doing stupid risky things but no one likes consequences to their actions. My gut still tells me many of these folks are just looking to blame the fat cats, politicians etc for their lot in life ...I just think that anyone with that attitude isnt helping themselves

  2. These folks in general want to blame others for their struggles ....they have communicated their angst about corparate America via thier computers and cell phones manufactured by the people they hate and powered by electricity produced by evil corporations ... many of them would love to have a job with a pension that would no doubt be invested in the risk taking risk taking corporations .....many of them are supporters of Obama who has benifited by donations of hedge fund operators .... it goes on and on ....greed is a part of human nature and all the protests in the world wont change that .. so my advice is work hard, create and maybe like Steve Jobs and many others make a difference

  3. good input ...I hate bigger venues and other than seeing Neil Young at the Palace (Detroit) in 1991 I dont go to them. The issue of scalpers is huge and I dont know of a perfect solution ... Wish they would keep the venues small but that the band do multiple dates in locales that they know they will do well in more often ... they could have easily done 3 shows at the Ryman ... course then I would complain that I didnt get tickets to all 3 ;)

  4. With the difficulty getting Tix to Wilco shows growing should they start to play bigger venues?. I got lucky to get into the Ryman on Sunday but wanted both nights since I am driving 600 miles (not complaining) other dates have sold out equally as fast. I know they would lose some of the intimacy by going to larger venues but unless you hover over your keyboard at the minute tickets go on sale you are out of luck....curious of other opinions.

  5. I can't believe this show is general admission. I've never been to the Fillmore - is there seating? My wife is disabled and there's no way she can stand for an entire concert.

From the pics I have seen the Filmore does in fact have seating ... its just up front that is not

  6. Hey gang,

First time posting on VC. Been lurking for a couple months. Last night was my first Wilco show after being a fan for about 4 years. I had tickets for a show in Detroit a couple years ago but my car broke down right before I was gonna leave. Needless to say last night was worth the 6 hour drive from west Michigan. AoA was perfect. You all already knew this I'm sure, but last night I found out that no one beats Wilco when it comes to live shows. Period.

Dont lurk and where in W Mich are you .. Im from Midland and making the drive to Nashville in a few weeks ....cant wait .. its like going to Mecca

  7. You know what? That's fine but it's the consumer that drives this not the artist. The consumer wants drama. The artist just wants to make a living doing something he loves to do.

I myself dont want drama just great music and thats what TWL is to me

  8. "I know the preceding statements will paint me as a bit of a fanboy, but I really don't care. It's a great record."

Lets see this is a fan site and being a fanboy is a bad thing? I am a fan Dad (old man) .. omg I like dad rock ... except I dont know what dad rock is

  9.

    You made me smile there.

But, there actually was a post on this board a before W(TA) came out that lamented the fact that Jeff was sober because he was writing wimpy songs.

    I am still flabbergasted.

Yea I am aware of a sentiment of some that thinks only tortured souls (IE Jeff prior to getting clean can make great art) Its like saying I remember friends of mine who were addicts and man they were alot more fun when they were effed up ... man I wish they would just decend into the abyss again .. it would be so fun and entertaining

  10. what a decent album.... but just think of how good it would be if Jeff relasped ( sarcasm) in a related thought I wish Dylan would go thru another painful divorce (sarcasm)

Sarcasm off .... I love this album and consider it one of thier best

  11. First I think TWL love is a GREAT GREAT album even at low quality mp3 levels ... the production is excellent and Pat should be commended the songs are very diverse and it reminds me of a Beatles album ..I have said several times here that I consider myself fortunate to have gotten into Wilco later in their careers so I dont have the baggage of living in the past ... on some level I understand that from the long time fans but in the end I like when artists mature and its reflected in their songwriting .... my only negative feeling about the album is Standing O doesnt do anything for me

  12. well got 4 for Sunday at the Ryman.. back of house main floor but center sections .. the bright side is I got in and I will be near the beer and the bathrooms .... thats a big deal for me at 54
