Not only that, but I don't really get it. Is Texas expensive? As insults go, it isn't as catchy or as derogatory as calling a team something like "Free Shoes University" or "Michigan". Needs some work.

I go into every season with low expectations for them. They'll be decent this year. Not spectacular, but should make the tourney just fine. As much as I love OSU football, I never really warmed up to Big Ten basketball when I was there and my ties are still stronger to the ACC/Big East teams that I grew up with. I have pretty meh expectations for my Terps this year, but Georgetown looks to be very good again.

That's okay, I think Michigan is out of Spurrier's climate range. When he made the jump to the NFL, didn't he say that Washington was as far north as he would go? In retrospect, I can't remember if he actually traveled to his team's NFC East road games or if he just coached via satellite from a golf course somewhere.

Maybe he can be hired to co-coach with Rodriguez at Michigan. If one offensive genius only wins you 3 games, having two on the sidelines is bound to at least make you bowl-eligible, am I right?

Depends on your level of proficiency, I guess. If you plan to be pretty "hands off" the actual code and primarily use the WYIWYG interface, then yeah, I guess they are okay. But if you ever plan to dig into the code by hand, they can actually make life harder because they like to insert a lot of junk into the code. FrontPage has traditionally been an especially bad offender, in this case. Don't use FrontPage if you don't want your developer-nerd friends making fun of you. Dreamweaver is ok, but kind of pricey and may be more than you actually need. If you think you want to go WYSIWYG,

Wow, I did not know this. So does this mean we can blame her for Jerry, too? Perhaps she met Janis and Jimi as a toddler?

I will have to check this out.

This Saturday, when Beanie launches himself from the 50 yard line, soaring high over the heads of the entire Michigan team and landing neatly at the 5 yard line so he can do his trademark Beanie-hop into the end-zone, I hope he yells down to those Wolverines below, "This one's for Biakabutuka, bitches!"

No, Michigan did it to themselves. If they would have simply dropped a game here and there, it would have been enough to give Coop Coach-for-Life status. As it was, you guys went like 30-0 against us during his ten years there. (at least that's what it felt like) Being an OSU fan/student in the 90s was enough to give me a permanent case of indigestion whenever I see those winged helmets (I think I am allergic to "maize", too). Basil, I hope you make it through 2011 with the winning streak intact, but while I heartily encourage you to be outwardly cocky about it towards folks Up North, de

Well, one of those losses was considered "the last straw" that got the coach fired hours later, so yeah, I guess the university admins didn't give SC any credit, either. SC played very well, so I do give them credit. (that one RB from Troy, OH tore it up in that one game)

Oh, I'm not saying I don't think they have a shot. Just saying I don't wanna play USC again this year is all. Lets just gear up for playing them next year.

I wouldn't mind OSU meeting you guys there again. I really don't think they belong in a BCS bowl this year, so the Outback would be good. Those games against S. Carolina came at the end of the Cooper era when the team was giving up on him and they really performed very badly in those games. In light of more recent bowl meltdowns those losses seem like ancient history, but I'm sure a lot of OSU fans still wouldn't mind another crack at the Gamecocks.

I dunno, the last time we elected a new Democratic president in '92, we got Grunge. The general state of the world right now doesn't really suggest sunshine and rainbows to me, regardless of if people are happy about who just got elected or not. -
Although I am thoroughly agnostic in this mortal life, I welcome any and all posthumous rituals that may improve my standing with the Big Guy Person Being(s), should I turn out to be wrong.

Well, there's that little thing about Republicans blaming him for destroying their party and stuff. Watching unexpected parts of that map turn blue, largely as a result of massive nationwide backlash, might be enough to convince the last few holdouts that Bush might not be so awesome after all. -
Vibes to everybody who is in need of work right now. My company was sold about a year ago and we've gone through a few waves of layoffs and general morale is in the crapper for everybody who is still here. People are leaving in droves, both voluntarily and not. I've been dusting off the resume "just in case", but I'd like to avoid job searching in this current market, if I can avoid it. I've been told that the strangest aspect of my resume is that I've never stayed anywhere longer than 2 years. I've spent the 10 years since my college graduation mostly spinning my wheels. After graduati

I don't think this will happen. It just won't. Its the same situation as when people speculated about an OSU/Michigan rematch a couple years ago. Nobody wants a rematch game for the championship and even though this thing is calculated by computers, I'm sure that people will find a way for that not to happen.

...and Cinci and Dayton and Athens and a handful of them over on the eastern border. For my part, I voted for Obama in Delaware County...but evidently I was overruled. (McC 59%, O 40%) -
96th? That's unpossible in the World's Greatest Conference EvarTM! But I just checked it out and, sure enough, it ain't all that. Texas Tech's schedule is impressive in the sense that all of their toughest games are bunched together in a row--if they survive Oklahoma, that's a hell of a 4-week run. Scheduling is such a weird thing, and is really the best argument for a playoff--because when you throw a Cinderella team like Utah into the mix, part of you wants to root for them to have a shot against the big guys, but then you look at their schedule and think "Eh...if there's only ONE game

Bad news: Given recent trends, Ohio State will probably lose to Illinois next week by a score of 3-2. Good news: They will likely put up 50 the following week vs. Michigan I haven't figured this team out yet. Some weeks they have an offense, some they don't. How to explain it? Time to start studying Pryor's biorhythm chart?

Thank you, I was trying to figure that out, too!

I think you're onto something here. I always just assume that their background check revealed my VC post-count and that I most frequently post during work hours.

A lot of companies make you actually jump through the hoops of filling out form after form rather than just pasting in a resume. It can be pretty time consuming (and infuriating), especially considering that there is little chance of it being read by a human being--at least unless a requisite number of keywords are found and then an HR person contacts you to ask for a more legible resume. At least, that's been my experience. And if that is the case, there is no reason a text-dump like pasting a cover letter/resume shouldn't be sufficient. As a developer by trade, crappy user experiences li

Nobody gets suspended for 2 games for missing a class--certainly not at Ohio (Andy Katzenmoyer) State. I'm thinking dad needs a reality check on this one because there is almost certainly something else going on here. Suspension aside, the diminished playing time is due to the fact that this guy was hyped as the second coming of Ted Ginn Jr. (who I always thought was kind of overrated, anyway) and has never really produced much. Small was supposed to be speedy "breakaway" receiver--something that has failed to materialize and it is one of the more glaring deficiencies in tOSU's offense ful

Yeah, but don't forget that Bush got a like 5 year buffer period where it was agreed upon that public criticism was un-American. I don't think Obama will get that kind of cushion. (nor should he, I'm just throwing this out for comparison's sake)
