  1. We have had a turtle for nearly five years now. He's an Easern Box Turtle my daughter adopted via a local rescue group. He was one of a group turtles that someone was hoarding; he has only three claws (victim of a lawn mower hit-and-run apparently), and can't be released into the wild. We've had gerbils and fish, too, and by far, Turtelini is the easiest to deal with, least expensive to feed, and probably the most intelligent. Plus, he hibernates from December to March, so we all get a break. He loves roasted sweet potatoes (who doesn't?) and earthworm, slugs, or anything else he can dig up. He spends most of his time basking under a lamp, and we can leave him for a few days at a time with no problems. As pets go, he's a winner in my book.

  2. Hey everyone!!!

Are any New York City Wilco fans going to this? Is there an easy way to get there train-wise? The directions off their website seem too complicated.

    Thanks!

I took the train last year. The closest Amtrak station is Albany-Rensselaer, about 40 miles west of MassMOCA. You can take a cab across the river and rent a car in town. There's supposed to be a car rental agency at the Amtrak station, but they have limited hours and seemed deserted last year.

Correction: The Pittsfield Amtrak station is closer to North Adams, but it's a 7 hour trip from NYC to Pittsfield via Amtrak. NYC to Albany is only about 2 1/2.

  3. It was tough leaving Massachusetts after the festival last year and heading right back to work. This year, I wised up and planned for a few extra days to explore New England. Does anyone have any suggestions for a Mon/Tues/Wed roadtrip from North Adams? Need to be in Albany in time for the flight home Wednesday afternoon. Thinking copious amounts of lobster roll...

  4. i sure remember you Beth. Allison and myself snagged the same room we has last year at the House on Main. Sorry your not going to be there with us this year. You should call Tim (the inn keeper) and see if you can at least come for breakfast.

BTW loving the Wilco eye chart poster you sent me. Your too kind! :thumbup

Breakfast would be fun - I'll have to do some heavy reading to prepare (if you know what I mean). Tim's a trip!

I would have liked to stay there again, but the house was booked solid weeks ago.

    Glad you like the poster.

    "Hi" to Allison :wave
