Ruby, let down your golden hair

When I'm standing at the bottom of your stairs

Ruby, I can see your TV on

But the people there, they flicker and they're gone

So let down your golden hair for me tonight

Let down your golden hair for me to climb

Just like an old-time telegraph man

I came here with a simple job to do

'Cause that news coming down the wire

Says that your head's on fire

And I'm trying to get a message through to you

    Ruby, you ain't lonely yet

With your crystal and your Russian cigarette

    Ruby, haven't you heard before?

What good's the finest tower when it hasn't got a door?

So let down your golden hair for me to climb

Let down your golden hair for me tonight

Just like an old-time telegraph man

I came here with a simple job to do

'Cause that news coming down the wire

Says that your bed's on fire

And I'm trying to get a message through to you

My only complaint with a set this massive is having to do a hell of a lot of getting up to flip and change records. I guess it will work my abs a little.

  3. Sweet summer night and I'm stripped to my sheets

Foreman is leaking; my AC squeaks

And a voice from the clock says "You're not gonna get tired"

My bed is a pool and the wall's on fire

Soak my head in the sink for a while

It chills my neck and it makes me smile

But my bones gotta move and my skin's gotta breathe

You pick up the phone and I'm so relieved

You slide down the stairs to the eager street

And the sun is left with slippery feet

And I want to walk around with you

And I want to walk around with you

    (And be here with you)

It doesn't really matter, I'll go where you feel

Home for the breeze, get a midnight meal

I'll point in the windows, you point out the parks

Rip off your sleeves and I'll ditch my socks

Dance to the songs from the cars as they pass

Weave through the cardboard, smell that trash

Walkin' around in our summertime clothes

Know where to go where our bodies go

And we'll breath the dawn in its morning blues

With purple yawns, you'll be sleeping soon

And I want to walk around with you

And I want to walk around with you

When the sun goes down we'll go out again!

    Don't cool off

    I like your warmth

Let's leave the sound of the heat for the sound of the rain

It's easy to sleep when it wets my brain

It covers my rest with a saccharine sheen

Kissing the wind through my window screen

But restless is causeless and I cannot hide

So much of my mind that it spills outside

Do you wanna go stroll down a financial street?

    Our clothes might get soaked

    But the buildings sleep

And there's no one pushing for a place

As we enter at an easy pace

And I want to walk around with you

I want to walk around with you

Just you, just you, just you, just you

  4. Compared to Friday's show, it was definitely the crazier / more spontaneous show of the two. Lots o' drunk St. Patty's early revelers clogging up the streets near the Vic, despite the miserable weather, and some of that spilled over into the crowd. Plenty of drunken requests, talkers, videotapers (despite Jeff's repeated admonishments to stop videotaping), crazed drunken women shouting completely random nonsensical things, etc.

Some great songs heard last night - Shakin' Sugar / Alone sounded great, and I loved hearing my request (Chinese Apple).

It was kinda lame when Jeff opened the crowd up for questions and some jackass asked him about Jay Bennett. Jeff stated he had nothing to say about it and moved on from there.

The Jeremy chord strumming thing was very cool, he was a 14-year-old dude who was very pumped to be up there, raised his hands victoriously. I don't think he'll forget this show any time soon.

  5. What a fun night! I'll tell you something: I never thought I'd hear "Monkey Mess" live.

Me neither, complete with a "Monkey Walk" afterwards. Broken Arrow sounded great, too, plus The Losing End, lots of Neil last night. He was right in front of me and Gewee when he went off the PA for Dreamer in my Dreams and Acuff Rose, I dare say we were getting a "spittle shower" of sorts during it. :stunned

Such an awesome show. Back for Round 2 today and getting an early song request in, but it's supposed to be another miserable day of rain and wind. :ninja "Sprinter" (not quite Spring, not quite Winter) in Chicago sucks.

  6. Max and Andy are joining him:

Conan O’Brien to Launch Two-Month, 30 City “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television” Tour

New York, NY – March 11, 2010: Conan O’Brien will headline a live comedy/music review that begins a two-month, 30-city tour on April 12th. The aptly titled “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television” tour kicks off in Eugene, Oregon, and will take Conan and a cast that will include longtime sidekick Andy Richter and the former Tonight Show band to theaters in at least 20 states and two Canadian provinces.

“It was either a massive 30-city tour or start helping out around the house,” says O’Brien.

American Express is sponsoring the tour and ticket prices will start at $39.50. It promises to be a night of music, comedy, hugging, and the occasional awkward silence. Tickets are available now at www.TeamCoco.com or through www.Ticketmaster.com. Full list of dates is below.
