  1. Anyone else hear a Yoshimi Flaming lips like thing in here? This is a track I will have to listen to several times but I was blown away on the free preview. Waiting for Whole Love LP CD set to bring me right

  2. If Wilco, The Album was a sonic shoulder to cry on this album is a sonic smile to rely upon. I have listened five times and can't get over it. I m not a fanboy, and would have ripped it if it was even subpar. This is history in the making. I Might may get some radio play, but even if the album turns out to be checkbook suicide I assure you a hundred years from now this album will be studied in music appreciation classes. Every listen brings out more layers; the album is so textured it leaves you speechless. I seriously wondered if YHF would be the apex of the catalog. No way I could have anticipated this coming. I remember the first time I heard Pet Sounds. I was left with a sadness that I would never get to hear it again for the first time. This album is what Brian Wilson was trying to do with Smile. This is truly a masterpiece and I hope Jeff realizes that he has achieved something that cannot be duplicated. Perfection. Sorry if I am going on too much but I truly believe I am listening to the most beautiful piece of art I could ever imagine.

  3. Great. Anyone who has seen I Am Trying to Break Your Heart can relate to the scene where the hipster dufusasks Jeff if YHF is more like AM or I forgot what else he said because it is so cringeworthy. All that aside, and breaking a huge cardinal rule, this sounds like what people were expecting YHF to be. Very happy HF sounds like it does, but until I saw this video the only version of this song I heard was an accoustic thing with no teeth. I hate fall and winter but am actually excited for September to grab this album.

On a total threadjack theme, which probably belongs more on Wilco heard out and about, I was in a bar on the jersey shore when a station doing a remote broadcast played I Might. The conversation among the people in the know (the three Wilco fans in a sea of Snooki admirers) the talk was of Wilco selling out to become popular and to get airplay and how they can't support a band that drops their values for airplay. I was outnumbered (and out tattoeed, a fight wouldn't go well) but if this album turns out to bring them to the general populace that would be great, they have earned the respect of the masses, not just the few in the know.

  4. Not direct download, but rather, Bit Torrent.

Whenever Mr. Owl does an update, he notes it by posting in this thread.

I should say this more often, but if you take the time to learn Bit Torrent, then you won't have to wait to grab shows.

And just so people know I am an idiot and I figured it out after an hour. Bit torrent delievers better quality sound with less effort. I think most amateurs make the mistake I did; reading up on it first. Download a file, get mad you can't open it because it has a ripping version of Hotel Arizona you are desparate to hear, and it will come to you. Have faith. And ofcourse, love your label.

  5. And by the way, this was my first trip to Cicero in 20 years and to be honest I have been lured onto so many "great" places that sucked I was reluctant. Only reason we went was a wreck on the Stevenson forced us off at Central. We used to go to a bar called the Fire Alarm, which never closed, and if you got there before 2 AM breakfast was free at 7. The number 2, which was two eggs, two pieces of sausage, two pieces of bacon, and two biscuits and gravy with a mimosa (Mimosa was $3.00 if you were a free breakfast participant). At that time, that was the best meal to be had in the town.

  6. It took me a while to get here but I owe you. This was unreal. The guy has a passion for his product that is not just reflected in the interview session, for lack of a better term, he gave us, but in the food. I explained what I like, my wife did the same, and we were blown away. He comes back with this thing for my wife that was like a fried burrito with a sauce over it that she spent a half hour posting about on facebook. She isnt an enthusiast, so it was perfect. I got bistec con rajas y queso, and a small side of bistec diablo, and was blown away.

  7. I 2nd the piss break at "Jesus" as well.

I think a piss break thread is warranted. I waited to see if it was sing along Jesus. Too long, as it happens, because it is becoming the piss break anthem. It is the concert equivalent of 1:11 left at halftime of a basketball game.

  8. Roadcase looks like it changed since last week. Last week it was redirecting me to a site where it had a graphic volume graph that let me time recording to stop and restart at the exact right point. It also had a back door that let you access hundreds of unauthorized songs, and I Might was up for a while. Anyways, I like the new site a lot, and am listening to Tuscon now. Hotel Arizona is a great song you don't hear enough of live.

  9. I honestly don't think there is a solution to this. It is near impossible to discourage or shut down a market where demand exceeds supply. The rotten thing about this is that no one knows what "demand" is because scalpers create it. The band has enough to do making music. I can't imagine the impact on the art it would have if bands had to actively intervene in scalping. No new album for five years, because John Stirrat is undercover busting people on stubhub, Nels is hiding behind a newspaper at the box office an hour before show time, and Jeff is checking Id's at the door.

I am sure this has happened in other markets but a couple of blow outs where scalpers bag a majority of tickets and no demand is established would help. In Chicago, Miley Cyrus and American Idol a couple of years ago put several large operations on the sidelines for a while due to lack of capital. Same thing with the Cubs last year, and this year tickets are available walk up.

I was going to St. Louis, after the ticket fiasco I am headed to Madison. I am not going to support price gouging.
