  1. Am I supposed to be seeing anyting in the Roadcase section of the official Wilco site?

I clicked on it at work and got nothing but a blank screen. I figured that might be becasue of firewalls, etc, but when I tried it at home I got the same blank screen.

Is it empty or am I the problem here?

Let me know if you figure it out. Mine is empty too. I figured it was to focus us less on the free stuff and more on the whole love.

  2. I guess this means they may be aware of the inordinate amount of tickets that ended up in the hands of those with no desire to attend the show.

375 available on stub hub, 10% of the capacity, 5% on ebay, so if they did this is a great response. Wilco, loves you, and me, apparantly. Thanks guys.

  3. 4th on itunes to the mac miller presale. Dont believe itunes is the target market, but seriously, shoud have been first. All pre-orders got a free download, so certain that hit sales. Wold love to see dbpm prove to be a great label. May have to go buy on itunes just to say I did it.

  4. Will feel better about getting shut out of this show than the first. Love the Riviera, so when I am rebuffed by a captcha error, or a spinning processing bar, I will feel exhilerated.

And by the way, I know we are all in competition for the seats, but if someone would be king enough to give me the jam keyword for Friday presale I will buy your beers for the entire show.

  5. Congratulations to a magnificent band on an astoundingly great album! YOU GUYS RAWK the planet!

Happy Wilco Release Day to all the lucky fans here at Via Chicago & elsewhere! :) I trust you've all snapped up cd's and albums by now. Happy (rather loud) listening!

Got my email from Tony M urging me to support the label, so I did. I love their label.

  6. the final 2 minutes of the vinyl version is fantastic. Not sure why they would cut that off the CD version.

Agree. A sense of closure, sort of. I loved the way the CD version ended, it left me with the idea it could go on forever. Then I hear this, and where it should stop, and like it even more. And the vinyl truly brings out the sound. Can't believe the texture, layering, etc. I am glad I upgraded my turntable for this album. Waiting on vinyl version of YHF I ordered a week ago. And Sky Blue Sky. I know experts say CD is better, but vinyl has this rich sound that can;t be replicated on a computer.

  7. Ticketmaster processing error, when I entered my credit card to finalize it. So no, got shut out again.

Watch out for the "errors'. Same thing happened to me, entered card, wanted me to hit submit, and it spun for three minutes and said there was an error. I looked at my account after and the ticket is there ,I did get it. If I had scrambled to get another I would have violated the 4 ticket thing and lost all of them. Take a quick look to see if you did end up getting it.

  8. All this talk about shows selling out begs this reminder: DON'T BUY TICKETS FROM SCALPERS. Don't even bother checking StubHub just to see what they have. The only way to eliminate scalping is to stop buying from scalpers. So don't do it. And if you choose to do it, don't complain about spending insane amounts of money on them.

It seems Wilco does everything in their power to try to ensure the tickets go to their fans. You turning around and buying tickets from scalpers the day they go on sale is kind of a slap in the face to them, you know? Calm down people. As long as you keep buying from scalpers, scalpers will keep eating up tickets.

Sold out shows are never really sold out. There are always tickets to be found at face value or below. You just keep checking ticketmaster or whatever legitimate ticketing site sells them. They pop up all the time so don't panic and run to scalpers. It's ridiculous. Closer to the show date even more tickets pop up, the band releases more, the house releases more, people's plans change and real fans wind up with extras they're looking to unload. Roll up to the venue on the day off and the box office will almost always have some. Sure it's a gamble and it can be hard on your nerves but I've never known it to not work out.

For example, 4 of the 'Evening with' shows I set out for were 'sold out' and I got tickets for all of them on show day. One show was GA (thanks fan on the street for $20), and for the others I got 4th row (thanks box office), 1st row centre (thanks unsold handicapped seating) and another 1st row centre (thanks Wilco).

Of course I'd love to avoid the grief and score top seats at 10:02 and be done with it but times have changed. It sucks not having the tickets you want but supporting scalpers isn't the solution. It just adds to the problem.

Absolute desperate worst case scenario, what until 10 minutes into the show and offer a scalper half of face value. They'll take the loss, otherwise they'll be wiping their asses with those unsold tickets. Eventually they'll buy fewer and fewer.

Agree by the way, Wilco does everything they can. They can't beat sniper sotware thatfucks over captcha, but that is why I will not bash wilco for what happened. The sniper software beat al of us, while you were typing in two captcha words the software was beating you, but that is the name of the game. Sick that I thought I was on an even plain with these assholes, as I am sure you are, but as gth pm I got said buy our software or pay our prices. Was pissed.

  9. The way I look at is that is fashionable to bang out the group that is on top and supoort the underdog. I trluy love this album, wolud give it a 10 of 10, and until people hear it in high fidelity they have no right to judge. This is amastrwork, love it, and as much as the posers want to bash I will not back off my opinion that it is genius. Sure I am wrong, have heard that from so many people on this board I almost started to believe it, but this album gives me the giggles. It is great.

  10. Pissed. When I ordered I forgot to enter number part of address. Kungfunation is awesome, called me to fix it, but have to wait til tomorrow. Watcing endless summer to cheer me up. Love that movie, and all I have to stop being depressed because they tried to ship, emailed twice, last tuesday. Would have i if I not an idiot. Love Miki Dora though, and since I have an extras seat if there any miki dora fans, who know why he a surf god, if they can answer year he died I give a ticket to Wilco 12/q2, just one by the way, but floor, ten rows up, 78 dollar value, to whomever knows why miki died.

  11. I think Message From Mid Bar is another slow John Lennon sounding song which is ok by me, but I'd like some rockers if you know what I mean. Speak Into The Rose sounds like something you would hear at Solid Sound Festival from one of the side projects other than Autumn Defense. If that's your bag, I'm sure you will like it. You could actually sing Spiders along with it and it fits pretty good except for the part of Spiders that is actually good which rocks the place when they play the riff part live. SITR doesn't go anywhere for me. Kind of like One Sunday Morning. Too repetitive, while you keep waiting for the song to go somewhere else. But it never does. That's why they are bonus tracks I guess. I'm sure most will disagree.

Agree. maybe not rockers but a hidden Art of Almost, Whole Love>

  12. I'm sorry, I have been really holding back in saying anything on this site about the new album. I have come to realize that my initial impressions about Wilco aren't always lasting ones. That's one of the main reasons I really like Wilco. They are an accquired taste that cannot immediately be absorbed and judged in one listening. However, their music usually stays with you for several years and becomes more appreciated over time.

All that being said, the Art Of Almost sounds like an '80's Genesis song to me and I don't mean that in a good way. It was jaw dropping to hear this song compared to IATTBYH. I think Nels has been unfairly criticized on this board, but I believe this song is a good example of him literally saving the song at it's closing.

Sorry to be negative, I really like other songs on this album, but this is not one of them.

Wholeheartedly disagree, but a fellow Wilcoite made the same comment. Said that if I heard this on Three Sides Live, I would have hated it, but because it is Wilco I loved it. Can't change my opinion that I love it, but rest assured there are a lot of people who look at this the exact same way, Got your comment posted in 3 emails agreing with you, so clearly you have a point. Good ear, I guess, but I still love it for what it is.

OK but the drumming is ridiculously good.

This is a Kotche, Stirrat, Cline, extravaganza.

  13. The one thing I dont understand is how bands miss this point. If I were in a band, and tickets on the secondary market were 4 times what I charged, heads would roll. I would ask why the hell didnt I get this money, why did scalpers get it. And props to tinnitus. He / she got me down pat. I folded like a cheap suit. Let me know where you are sitting if you at 12/12 show and first couple beers on me. Thanks for the reality check.

  14. autumnteeth, i think you are over-thinking things...spin the clock back 20 years ago and a band the profile of Wilco would easily be playing arenas.

the fact that they are playing ~2-3K theaters means that tickets are in more demand.

and do you think 'real fans' never buy off stubhub or ebay or the like? how did you get to that conclusion? maybe they got shutout like everyone else, and wanted to go to the show regardless.

maybe the true answer is to do a dutch auction on ebay for every single seat. then the market would decide. but i'm guessing the average price would be a lot more than it is now (at least for some tickets).

I agree. 100%. I will end up buying because I love seeing them live. Thanks for pointing out wht I already knew. That was the democrat in me, and I am pissed I wil break my own rules, but suplyand demand are basic economics, and my socialism thing is idiotic. I didnt even have the character to do stub hub., I went to the Wal Mart equivalent, ebay. Wanted to see them, wanted to sit with my girls to walk them through every song, so paid way more. It is good to know when you are a hypocriate, better to have to answer to it,

  15.

Great idea, if it depends on what song gets the most votes, maybe we should organize here and work together to get our desired rare songs played. I know, I know, getting people to agree on a song would be the hardest part, just kinda joking, but it would be cool. Who wants to start a campaign for One Hundred Years From Now in Nashville this weekend? For night #2, I requested Its Just That Simple.

Great song, concur, and hope fellow Chicago attendees follow. This song was reinvented when Nels came along, and is a real attention grabber when done with NEls and Glen. Some songs from the past dont work right with the new lineup, hard to explain, and wouldnt complain, but I love Dash 7 for what it was, not what it has become. Hotel Arizona, on the other hand, was a throwaway, in my blinder driven opinion, that became a show stopper when Nels was allowed to tear off the end part. Love this song now, and will chase Wilco around the country until I hear it a again. Last time was Tuscon, and was in Phoenix for work, and paid 300 for a lone seat stage left knowing they would play it, and it was unreal.
