  1. There's morons at every show I go to these days. I just try to focus on the show and tune everything else out. I definitely wasn't expecting a bunch of saints at the Starland. If you get there early and get up front, you don't have to worry about the madness behind you. And if people just didn't drink anything (imagine that), you wouldn't have to go to the bathroom. Works for me.

  2. Well.... I am on my way. Just left the house. Kinda excited... a little worried.

If anybody sees a 6'10" guy wearing a black sweatshirt type track jacket with gray stipes on the sleeves. or a green poncho, that will be me. Come say "hi".

    Should be hard to spot :P . You're gonna have a blast :D .

  3. Absolutely incredible :worship , even with Jeff being definitely agitated by that asshole for much of the show.

This lineup just keeps getting better and better, so much so that I really don't even care anymore what they play. That was the closest I've ever been to Nels, and he had me utterly mesmorized for much of the show :stunned Best Spiders I've ever seen :worship , the horns were awesome :rock , Bruce impression priceless :D , and Angry Jeff seemed to be taking his disdain for that asshole out on his guitar playing, esp on ALTWYS (giving him the drawn out middle finger was a nice touch, too.)

They for sure could've played longer (only 20 songs), but he looked like he definitely wanted out of Jersey (I've been trying for years :P ). Still, no complaints out of me. Just another spiritual experience for me (my apologizes to all the atheists here :P ) by the best band around.

ps - Sorry I missed meeting you, Shawn. I was probably right in front of you. Glad you had a great time. :thumbup

  4. Been to 2 Wilco shows and 1 Jeff solo by myself and had a blast each time. It really did get me to talk to great people that I never would have otherwise met. Definitely do it !!! Who knows, maybe you'll meet your next girlfriend :) .

  5. Rhett got a rousing endorsement from the critic doing a singer-songwriter segment on CBS Sunday Morning this morning. It also featurued Jenny Lewis, Mason Jennings, and Beth Orton. It was a nice piece. Synopsis.

  6. Didn't think I have enough to say to merit its own thread, but I saw Neko for the first time in Philly last time and was just completely blown away :w00t . She was in great spirits throughout despite still being sick (said she has a whole in her throat) and saying after the third song that she never in her life had to pee more than she did right then.

Standing right in from of Neko and Kellie, the haunting beauty of their voices just took me away with them on many occasions during the set. Highlights for me included "I Wish I Was The Moon", "Furnace Room Lullaby", and "Deep Red Bells". About half way through when Neko mentioned that they were about to play a song for the first time and it was probably going to be a disaster, I knew from the board that it had to be "Margaret vs Pauline". It was the absolute furthest thing possible from a disaster :wub . She then run upstairs to pee (not without the crowd's blessing first), and John and the band busted out a bluesy little impromptu number until she got back. Funny little banter moment when she got back.

Neko: "This is a song about desperation"

Bearded Indie Dude: "Aren't They All"

Neko: "Hmm, why yes sir, I guess they all are"

Great night all around. Crowd was excellent for the most part, and the Troc is one of my favorite places to see a show. I've always been more a NYC guy being originally from North Jersey, but I'm starting to like Philly more and more for shows. Definitely the show of the year so far for me. The most refreshing thing to me about Neko was that she doesn't seem to take herself too seriously. Unparalleled voice, great banter amongst the band, and simply amazing songs. Thanks again to the VCers for the inspiration to want to make the trip. :worship Definitely worth it. Beats watching the Yankees :yucky .
